"Sometimes, the moments that shape your future do not seem important at the time! From leading my former school as Head Boy and organising our first international trip to South Africa, where I met past Mr and Miss GIS winners, to choosing GIS shortly after, my journey has been shaped by growth and unexpected opportunity.

That brief encounter left a lasting impression and played a role in my decision to join the school. Adjusting to a new and highly competitive environment was not easy, but within my first term, I earned a prefect role and began to find my place.

Inspired, I auditioned for Mr and Miss GIS but was not initially selected. Then came a second chance, a last-minute opportunity to step in. I took it.

At the same time, I was cast as the male lead in GIS’s first original musical, "Once Upon a School Bell." I had to balance rehearsals, academics, and pageant preparation. It was demanding, but it pushed me to grow. On the night of Carnifest, I stepped onto the stage ready. I was crowned Mr GIS.
The significance of that moment went beyond the title itself. It represented a journey that had come full circle.

From meeting Mr and Miss GIS winners on an international trip to becoming one myself, with the opportunity to represent the school on an international stage in Nairobi, Kenya.

Looking back, this experience reflects what Ghana International School stands for: a place where opportunity meets preparation, where students are challenged to grow, and where potential is recognised, often before you even see it in yourself.

Sometimes, the moments that shape your future do not seem important at the time. And sometimes, it is the second chance that changes everything." Kobina Amprofi Taylor.

We were delighted to welcome students and teachers from Lycée Français Blaise Pascal (Abidjan) to Ghana International School for a meaningful educational visit under the theme “Year of Return, Reconnecting Memory, Rebuilding Identity.”

The group, which was made up of 27 high school students and three teacher chaperones, participated in an engaging two-hour programme centred on intercultural learning, shared history, and student collaboration.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn from one another’s cultures and educational systems, and took part in a dynamic town hall discussion exploring key themes such as identity, heritage, and belonging; the impact of colonialism and nationalism in West Africa; language, borders, and shared histories; and the legacy of slavery, including conversations around tourism and reparations. The programme concluded with a vibrant cultural exchange session that fostered meaningful connections and laid the foundation for future collaboration.

Students also enjoyed a guided tour of our campus, where they learned more about our history, community, and the GIS@70 journey. More than just a visit, the experience served as a platform for reflection, dialogue, and connection, reinforcing our shared commitment to global citizenship and purposeful partnerships.

We look forward to strengthening this relationship and creating more opportunities for our students to learn, share, and grow together.

We were honoured to welcome a distinguished delegation from Bryant University to Ghana International School for an inspiring and forward-looking visit.

The morning began with engaging discussions at the CEO’s Office, where we shared our academic philosophy, strategic priorities, and exciting opportunities for global collaboration.

At the Upper Secondary, our team highlighted our strong university preparation pathways, outstanding student outcomes, and dynamic sports programmes, sparking meaningful dialogue around student success and international opportunities.

A vibrant campus tour gave our guests a true feel of the GIS experience, before the visit concluded with warm reflections, a symbolic exchange of souvenirs, and shared enthusiasm for future partnership.

This visit was more than an engagement; it was the beginning of a promising partnership grounded in shared values, global perspective, and a commitment to empowering the next generation.
