Many French adverbs are made by adding "-ment" to an adjective.

Quick, neat and very useful.

🔸️For example: "lent" becomes "lentement" (slowly).

Some adjectives change slightly before adding "-ment", but once you know the common patterns, you can form loads of adverbs easily.

Don’t mix up savoir and connaître. They’re both “to know” but used differently!

🔸️ Savoir = facts or skills (use + infinitive or a clause).
Ex: Je sais parler français. / Je sais où il habite.
🔸️ Connaître = people, places, or things you know or are familiar with.
Ex: Je connais Marie. / Je connais Paris.

Want to sound more natural in French? Quick pronunciation tip: with plural nouns, you don’t pronounce the final “s.” 🔊

For example: “J’ai deux chats.” You say the words, but you don’t say the “s” at the end of chats.
People know it’s plural from “deux,” not from hearing an “s.” ✅

80% of my learners are women. Today I want to celebrate them.

As a French language coach who teaches English speakers, I see the courage and curiosity women bring to class every week. Many juggle work, family and life, yet they still find time to practise. That resilience inspires...

They show up even when they are tired. They make small choices every day that add up to big change. They ask for more, try new things and build a better future for themselves and their loved ones. Some start new courses, some change jobs, some speak up more at work, all because they believe they can grow.

They carry a lot and still find room to dream.

Today I honour every woman who keeps moving forward.

To everyone reading this: take a moment to thank a woman who inspires you. Tag her below or share one short line about a her, I will read every comment and celebrate your stories.

Happy International Women’s Day!

As a woman, today 8th March, I use my voice for every woman who has been ignored or silenced.

We deserve equal pay, equal chances, and equal respect. We deserve safety, freedom to choose, and the right to be heard.

I honour the women who fought before us, the women fighting now, and the girls who will lead next.

This is for all women: women of colour, disabled women, migrants, young and old.

Together we rise. Together we make a fairer world.

Happy International Women's Day.

Today, March 6, I join my Ghanaian family in celebrating Independence Day. I am inspired every day by your courage, your unity, and the richness of your cultures.

May this day remind us of the journey we have taken since March 6, 1957, and may it renew hope, peace, and prosperity for generations to come.

Happy Independence Day!

Stop mixing up "ma" and "m'a"; one apostrophe changes the meaning!

🔸️ Ma (no apostrophe) = my, before a feminine noun. Ex: ma maison, ma sœur.
🔸️ M'a (with apostrophe) = me + a (as in "he/she/it ... me").
Ex: Il m'a appelé = He called me.

Want to order like a native French? 🍽
Simple phrases + polite habits = instant confidence at the table.

🔸️ Start polite: "S'il vous plaît" and "Merci" go a long way 🙏
🔸️ Ask for the menu: "La carte, s'il vous plaît." (The menu, please.)
🔸️ Order: "Je voudrais..." or "Je prendrai..." (I would like / I’ll have) 🍷🥐
🔸️ Ask for advice: "Que me recommandez-vous ?" (What do you recommend?)
🔸️ Ask about ingredients: "Est-ce que c'est végétarien ?" (Is it vegetarian?) 🥗
🔸️ Finish: "L'addition, s'il vous plaît." (The bill, please.) 💶

Quick tip: use "vous" until invited to use "tu". It sounds respectful.

Want to say “in no time” in French? ✨

📌 "En un clin d'œil".

• Meaning: it means "very quickly" or "instantly". ⏱️⚡️

Examples:
🔸️ La réponse est arrivée en un clin d’œil. (The answer came in no time.)
🔸️ Elle a fini son travail en un clin d’œil. (She finished her work in no time.)

Try it now, write your sentence with «en un clin d’œil» in the comments ⬇️ or tag a friend to challenge them! 💬👥

I disappeared from social media for a month and it was exactly what I needed.

I teach French to English speakers, and work piled up. I decided to switch off, rest, and come back with fresh ideas.

While I was away, I practised what I teach. I stopped planning big goals and started tiny habits. Small daily steps beat long lists of rules; no pressure, just habit.

Now I’m back, refreshed and full of simple strategies.

Happy new month everyone! May this month bring wins and lots of bonjour moments!

What’s your language goal for this month? Share it below, I’ll cheer you on.
