The WASSCE numbers do not look good!

1. Mathematics has crashed catastrophically. In 2024, 66.86% passed (A1–C6). In 2025, it has fallen to 48.73%.

A nearly 20-percentage-point drop in just one year. More than 114,000 students scored F9. This is not a dip. It is a collapse.

2. Integrated Science is sliding backward.
• 66.82% (2023)
• 58.77% (2024)
• 57.74% (2025)

Year after year, the foundation of STEM education is eroding.

3. Social Studies — supposed to teach civic thinking — is in freefall
•76.76% in 2023
• 71.53% in 2024
• Now 55.82% in 2025

That is a 21-point decline in just two years. That means more than 122,000 students failed in 2025.

4. Only English is holding steady, and even that is stagnating.

These numbers suggest something fundamental is not working in the way we are educating our children. When Mathematics collapses by nearly 20 points in one year, when Science keeps sliding backward, and when Social Studies loses more than 20 points in two years, it is not the students who have failed — it is the system that is failing them.

Something in our teaching methods, supervision, learning environment, resource allocation, or curriculum delivery is simply not working. And until we confront this honestly, no amount of religious or disciplinary debates will fix the deeper rot.

What must we do?

We need a national learning rescue plan focused on:
1. Improving teacher quality through targeted retraining in math, science, and literacy instruction.

2. Diagnosing learning gaps early with nationwide baseline assessments, not waiting for WASSCE to expose the crisis.

3. Reducing overcrowded classrooms so teachers can actually teach, not supervise.

4. Restoring instructional time lost to disruptions, non-academic activities, and poor time-on-task discipline.

5. Investing in labs, textbooks, and teaching aids — you cannot teach science without equipment.

6.Strengthening supervision and accountability at every level, from the classroom to GES headquarters.

7.Supporting students with remediation programmes, after-school tutoring, and digital learning tools.

8.Integrate technology meaningfully into teaching, not just distributing devices. Teachers need support to use digital tools for explanation, practice, and feedback — especially in math and science.

9. Reform the curriculum to emphasize mastery over memorization. Students must deeply understand concepts, not cram and forget. Mastery-based progression in core subjects will produce lasting gains.

10. Mobilize parents and communities as partners in learning — through reading programmes, homework support, and local accountability. Education cannot be fixed by schools alone; it requires a national culture of learning.

Until we fix these core issues, we will keep blaming students for what is actually a systems failure.

And year after year, the WASSCE tables will repeat the same painful story: a country more focused on uniforms than on understanding; more concerned about appearance than about achievement.

The data is clear. We need an education reset — not another debate about religious accommodation.

**CHAPTER:

THE INTERNET MISSIONS — CHOOSING BETWEEN WAYTODIE AND PIECE**

By Emmkoj Debra Ayisi

---

INTRODUCTION — THE AGE OF DIGITAL CONFUSION

Every generation in human history has wrestled with some form of distraction.
But no generation has ever been confronted with a distraction so portable,
so persistent,
so personal,
and so psychologically intrusive
as the Internet.

To call the Internet an invention is to underestimate it.
The radio was an invention.
Television was an invention.
The printing press was an invention.

But the Internet is a fusion of all inventions.
It is the perfect storm — a combination of every informational tool humanity has created,
compressed into a glowing screen that fits into the palm of your hand.

This new environment has created something more intense than mere distraction.
It has created a silent hypnosis — a state in which billions participate without realizing they are participants at all.

And in this hidden hypnosis, every person is unknowingly living one of two digital missions:

WAYTODIE: Waste Your Time on Deceptive Internet Enterprise

PIECE: Productive Internet Enterprise Consumption Environment

This chapter is not entertainment.
It is a mirror — and sometimes mirrors are uncomfortable.

---

SECTION 1: HOW THE INTERNET BECAME A MENTAL FORCE

To understand the magnitude of the Internet’s influence, we must look backward before we look forward.

1.1 The Age of the Radio

When the radio transmitter arrived, it was awe-inspiring.
It allowed a voice to travel beyond space.
It created a phenomenon: news without newspapers, music without instruments, information without travel.

Yet the radio only had one direction:
It spoke.
You listened.

No interaction.
No loop.
No addiction mechanism.

1.2 The Age of Television

Television added visuals — motion, color, emotion.
It intensified the experience but still remained passive.

You watched what broadcasters decided you should watch.
Programs ran at specific times.
If you missed it, you waited for the next broadcast.

The Internet destroyed that limitation.

1.3 The Internet’s Hybrid Power

The Internet is:

Radio +

Television +

Newspaper +

Magazine +

Photo album +

Telephone +

Library +

Classroom +

Marketplace +

Therapist +

Entertainment center +

And a thousand more things —

all at once, all available, all competing for a single resource:
your attention.

This hybrid nature is what makes the Internet more powerful — and more dangerous — than any invention before it.

It is not just a tool.
It is an ecosystem with its own agenda.

---

SECTION 2: THE PSYCHOLOGY OF DIGITAL HYPNOSIS

The human brain evolved in an environment of scarcity — scarcity of food, scarcity of threat, scarcity of information.
We were never built for infinite stimulation.

Yet the Internet provides:

Infinite videos,

Infinite opinions,

Infinite images,

Infinite temptations,

Infinite notifications.

Human biology was designed for hunger, not excess.
And when the brain encounters excess, it becomes overwhelmed, overstimulated, and eventually — addicted.

2.1 The Dopamine Trap

Every scroll is a “maybe.”
Maybe the next post will be interesting.
Maybe the next video will be funny.
Maybe the next story will be shocking.

The brain loves “maybe.”
It is the same mechanism used in gambling machines.

This makes the Internet the silent casino of the modern world —
except you don’t gamble money;
you gamble time,
focus,
discipline,
and ultimately, your future.

2.2 The Illusion of Choice

People believe they choose what they watch.
But algorithms choose what they see.

And algorithms are not designed to make you intelligent.
They are designed to make you stay.

They learn your fears, your fantasies, your weaknesses, your insecurities —
then package content that keeps you scrolling.

This is where the two missions begin.

---

SECTION 3: THE TWO MISSIONS — WAYTODIE AND PIECE

Humans operate in two modes when online.
Only one leads to growth.
The other leads to silent decay.

---

3.1 WAYTODIE

Waste Your Time on Deceptive Internet Enterprise

WAYTODIE is not just bad content.
It is an entire ecosystem of digital illusions.

Its purpose is not to educate.
Its purpose is to entertain, thrill, deceive, exaggerate, and distract.

WAYTODIE content is designed to:

trigger emotions

distort expectations

create fantasies

elevate triviality

encourage mindless scrolling

make normal life seem boring

This ecosystem glamorizes:

unrealistic lifestyles

perfect bodies

scripted relationships

fake success

AI-generated beauty

edited realities

staged wealth

overdramatized conflict

WAYTODIE is a digital mask —
beautiful on the outside,
corrosive on the inside.

3.1.1 The Hidden Cost of WAYTODIE

WAYTODIE steals:

hours,

attention,

ambition,

mental clarity,

emotional stability.

But its greatest theft is subtle:
It steals your sense of reality.

You begin to compare your life with illusions.
You begin to feel inadequate without reason.
You begin to chase what does not exist.

A person dependent on WAYTODIE content develops:

short concentration span

shallow thinking

unrealistic dreams

constant distraction

emotional turbulence

poor decision-making

weakened willpower

WAYTODIE is the death of potential disguised as entertainment.

---

3.2 PIECE

Productive Internet Enterprise Consumption Environment

If WAYTODIE is the deceptive side of the Internet,
PIECE is the productive side.

PIECE is quiet.
Non-dramatic.
Non-seductive.
Often overlooked.

PIECE content includes:

educational videos

documentaries

tutorials

skill lessons

research

insightful analysis

digital libraries

self-development resources

PIECE does not appeal to your fantasies.
It appeals to your intellect.

It builds.
It strengthens.
It clarifies.
It develops.
It disciplines.

3.2.1 The Rewards of PIECE

PIECE sharpens:

focus

thinking

ambition

creativity

clarity

competence

decision-making

emotional control

PIECE content aligns the Internet with your goals — not your weaknesses.

---

SECTION 4: WHY MOST PEOPLE END UP IN WAYTODIE

The answer is simple:

**WAYTODIE is exciting.

PIECE is demanding.**

Humans naturally drift toward pleasure, not discipline.
Pleasure asks for nothing.
Discipline asks for everything.

WAYTODIE offers:

instant gratification

fast entertainment

emotional stimulation

endless novelty

PIECE offers:

learning

effort

patience

long-term rewards

This is why the average person spends hours on WAYTODIE content
and minutes on PIECE content.

The digital world is not neutral.
It is engineered to pull you toward WAYTODIE.
If you want PIECE, you must actively choose it.

---

SECTION 5: THE LONG-TERM CONSEQUENCES OF WAYTODIE

WAYTODIE is not a joke.
It is not harmless.

It reshapes your mind.

5.1 Cognitive Damage

Scrolling through shallow content reduces:

focus

memory

analytical ability

patience for long tasks

The brain becomes wired for short bursts — not long thinking.

5.2 Emotional Distortion

WAYTODIE trains you to expect:

constant entertainment

constant stimulation

exaggerated success

unrealistic beauty

effortless wealth

It plants dissatisfaction in everyday life.

5.3 Lifestyle Paralysis

When you spend hours reacting to the lives of others,
you delay action in your own life.

WAYTODIE is the thief of initiative.

---

SECTION 6: HOW TO CHOOSE PIECE DAILY

PIECE requires digital discipline.
Not force.
Not fear.
Discipline.

There are five pillars:

---

6.1 Pillar 1: Intention

Ask yourself:
“Why am I online right now?”

Without intention, the Internet chooses for you.

---

6.2 Pillar 2: Identification

Always classify content instantly:

Does this educate me? → PIECE

Does this deceive/excite me unnecessarily? → WAYTODIE

Does this waste time without value? → WAYTODIE

Identification is mental filtering.

---

6.3 Pillar 3: Elimination

Unfollow accounts that drain you.
Block content that manipulates you.
Mute noises that distract you.

Digital peace begins with digital pruning.

---

6.4 Pillar 4: Substitution

Replace useless content with:

TED talks

tutorials

eBooks

research

factual analysis

skill-based learning

Your brain adapts to what you feed it.

---

6.5 Pillar 5: Structure

Set time blocks for:

learning

research

content creation

important communication

Structure transforms chaos into growth.

---

SECTION 7: THE FINAL CHALLENGE — WHAT MISSION ARE YOU ON?

The Internet has no original agenda.
It mirrors your habits.

If you enter it without direction,
WAYTODIE will direct you.

If you enter with purpose,
PIECE will serve you.

The mission you choose determines the person you become.

You cannot build a meaningful life inside a meaningless digital environment.

You cannot grow inside illusions.

You cannot mature inside distraction.

Your attention is the passport of your destiny.
Where you send it determines where you arrive.

Every scroll is a vote.
Every click is a choice.
Every minute online is an investment — or a loss.

Choose PIECE.
Guard your focus.
Protect your mind.
Use the Internet — do not let it use you.

Your future demands discipline.
Your mind deserves clarity.
Your life deserves better than WAYTODIE.
