This is also another area where opinions differ. There are those who believe everyone has a specific purpose to pursue on this earth. These people believe that all their focus and energy should be on this one specific purpose. They believe, you should carve a name for yourself in a particular niche. In this case the person specializes in one area and does not concern himself or herself with other professions. An example is someone who has decided to go into dress making or fashion designing and that is all that he or she does. This person doesn’t care to see if there are other talents he or she can pursue alongside the dress making.

Then we have those who believe we can do anything we want to do. We don’t need to confine ourselves to one purpose. We can explore all our talents, passions and interests and make good use of them at any point in time. They refer to it as multi-potentials. These people don’t believe in having one true calling. To them the aspect of having one purpose brings pressure and also shut the doors for your other potentials and interests. One of such person is Emilie Wapnick who runs a blog on 'multipotentialism'.

One of the questions we most of the time ask when growing up is “what will I be when I grow up?” According to her such question put us in a box and makes us not explore many talents and interests.

When it comes to the concept of Life Purpose, there two schools of thoughts. And these schools of thoughts have their reasons for believing in the stance they have taken.
*
There are those who believe that we are born with our life purpose and it is hidden within us and so we must find out and live accordingly. These are those who believe that until you pursue your life purpose, every other thing would amount to nothing. Life is meaningless, stressful until you make a u-turn to fulfil your God-given destiny.
*
The others also believe that, we must consider our interests and choose a life purpose that would resonate with our interests and then pursue it. These people believe that God has given us the free will to become anything we want to be, and as such we have the power to choose our destiny.
*
Whatever opinion you have is not all that important as long as you are able to find one meaningful life purpose for your life. Meaningful because your life purpose should be your own not what someone wishes for you. Your Life Purpose should bring you a deep sense of satisfaction with whatever you have chosen to do.
