During the month of June, we celebrate "Black Dollar Days" to streamline and leverage our collective buying power for maximum impact.

As we make the commitment to, “Build Our Economic Wealth,” Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®️ is inviting all of our Sisters to “Wear Pink, Spend Green, and Buy Black.” This way, we can collectively support Black and minority-owned businesses.

This year, we are asking each member to spend $19.08 with a Black-owned business with the goal of spending $8 million. That's one meal. One salon visit. One purchase.

Happy Juneteenth! Today, we honor the spirit of freedom, resilience, and progress.

On June 19, 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, 250,000 enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. This day, now known as Juneteenth, marks a delayed but powerful moment of liberation.

For generations, Black communities have honored this day, and in 2021, Juneteenth was officially recognized as a federal holiday, a long overdue step in honoring Black history and resilience.

As we reflect, celebrate, and continue to uplift our communities, let us never forget the power of justice, unity, service, and sisterhood.

Looking back at the Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (CHIPP™)/Feed Our Future Program with Ashaley Botwe Community Center, which is a majority Muslim community in Accra. 🎒✨

Through AKA CHIPP™, our goal is to eliminate the weekend and holiday food gaps that so many children face, ensuring they receive the essential nutrients needed for overall health, growth, and academic success. The Feed Our Future Program is inspired by the US-based CHIPP program but adapted to suit the local context in Ghana for children and their families.

Alongside Bridge to Africa Connection (BTAC) and the Tau Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. (Ghana Alphas), we were able to support the Ashaley Botwe community of 44,000 people.

Together, we:
🌸 Distributed CHIPP bags that fed 810 children and their families.
🌸 Personally engaged with 120 brilliant girls and 42 boys (ages 6-15).
🌸 Sponsored a Quran recitation challenge with cash prizes for the winning scholars.

A massive "Thank You" to BTAC and the Ghana Alphas for their commitment to improving the quality of life and providing educational assistance to underserved and underestimated children in Ghana. 🇬🇭

Happy 50th Golden AKA Anniversary to our International President & CEO, Danette Anthony Reed! 🌟 This is a double celebration, as she celebrated her birthday 4 days ago.

Five decades ago today, on May 29, 1976 she began her journey with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® at Northwestern University's Gamma Chi Chapter. Since that day, she has poured her heart into our sisterhood. Now leading us with distinction from the Omicron Mu Omega Chapter in Dallas, TX, she remains a guiding light for us all.

Madam President, we honor your remarkable legacy, your dedication, and your warmth today. Cheers to 50 years of sisterhood, and to continuing to Soar to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood together!

Flashback to one of our reading and art programs with BASICS International. The scholars enjoyed the book "Superheroes are Everywhere" by our sister, 49th Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris. They also had the opportunity to create their own collage art using remnants of ankara fabric.
