OUR ACTIVITIES

UCMAS Ghana Ltd is the sole organizer of the Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic (UCMAS) programme in Ghana. Established in 1993, Mental Arithmetic is a form of Calculation that does not involve the use of Physical gadgets/instruments; it is solely done by the HUMAN MIND using the MIND’s POWER in performing calculations. The UCMAS is a global leader in promoting the education of abacus and Mental Arithmetic. In fact it is a scientific whole – brain development programme. By visualizing an abacus, a child can do all arithmetic calculations up to 10 digits and master the skill of doing it mentally without relying on modern devices such as calculators and computers. It has scientifically been proven that the constant use of the abacus stimulates brain cells resulting in developing the growth of the brain. When the brain is forced to work, it results in the activation of millions of brain cells thereby resulting in growth of memory and ions that may cause the brain to work faster and make the child active thus rendering the brain powerful. Many people often assume that learning mental arithmetic is merely a method to improve one’s speed and accuracy of calculation, for example, adding 10 - digit numbers within a few seconds. This by itself is already an amazing accomplishment for most children. However, there is more to this because when children are learning Mental Arithmetic, they are actually also undergoing the process of developing other aspects of the brain. When children have acquired an astonishing calculation speed the end result is the development of the following mental abilities: concentration, observation, visualization and imagination, and retentive memory. The UCMAS programme has successfully opened more than 2000 learning centers worldwide in over 40 countries including the USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, France, India etc and has trained over 1,000,000 children. UCMAS certification is recognized by renowned examination bodies such as the National Association for the education of young children, Association for Childhood Education International, World record holder LIMCA book of records in India, World Association of Abacus Mental Arithmetic in China, the Chinese Zhusuan Association and the Malaysian book of records.
