The Ghana Investment and Securities Institute (GISI) successfully held its first 2026 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session on Thursday, April 16, 2026. The CPD topic was: “Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management: Application and Challenges in the Current Economic Environment”.

The lead facilitator was Mr. William Mensah (Bora Capital Advisors) with Dr. Daniel Raziel Obeng-Okon (CIDAN Investments), Mr. Anthony Degbato (SEC), and Mr. Kwabena Boamah (SIMS) as panelists. Mr. Ekow Afedzie moderated.

Learning outcomes included ‘analysis of investment risk and return, valuation of equities, bonds and money market instruments, application of modern portfolio management, asset allocation techniques and best practices within the capital markets’. Mr. Alexander Williams (CEO, GISI) thanked the resource persons, participants and supporting staff.

He advised that based on the expected framework from SEC, participation in CPD is expected to become a requirement for representative annual license renewal. He announced the new status of the Institute as a registered professional body and from June, membership drive would start. He encouraged participants to enroll.

*PROGRAMME ORIENTATION SESSION WITH SIC FINANCIAL SERVICES LIMITED*

At the invitation of the Management of SIC Financial Services Limited, an orientation session on the programmes of the GISI was held at their offices.

The SIC-FSL was led Dr. Ibrahim Sa-ad, the MD of the company.

The session was conducted by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Alexander Williams and Mr. Emmanuel Saisie, Head, Finance and Admin. Unit of GISI.

The orientation introduced the courses of the Institute, the application processes and the need for compliance as a requirement by the Securities and Exchange Commission Regulations.

The programme took place on Thursday, 22nd January, 2026 at the offices of the company with their branches joining online.

The Institute on Tuesday, 13th May, 2025 led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Alexander Williams hosted a session with a 12 - member delegation from the Capital Markets and Securities Authority of Tanzania at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ghana during their study tour to Ghana.

The objective of the study tour is to, among other things, equip the delegation with insights, lessons and best practices from the Ghanaian securities industry as the Authority sees to strengthen its institutional capacity in Private Equity and Venture capital to formulate sound regulatory frameworks in line with international best practices.

The Management of the Ghana Investment and Securities Institute (GISI) led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Alexander Williams, on Friday, 20th September, 2024 met with the team from Autorite De Regulation Du Marche Des Capitaux (Capital Market Authority of Burundi) also led by Dr Arsene Mugenzi during their study tour in Ghana.

As part of their visit, the Burundian team consulted with the Institute on their establishment and training programmes.

The GISI gave its assurance to the CMA from Burundi to support and provide assistance, especially in preparing study manuals for both practitioners and students in the Burundi Capital market.

The Institute also informed the team about the possibility of enrolling on their online programmes from their bases in Burundi.

We wish the team well and we would be available to support their market development.
