As a very patriotic Ghanaian and a pan-African, I'm really impressed by the work of President Traoré of Burkina Faso, as reported Burkina 24 It is but a pity that it should take a military ruler to do such extraordinary work in Burkina. The president has shown that Africa has the strength, the people, and the resources to depend on ourselves and to be truly LIBERAL, as we claim. John Dramani Mahama Ghanaians trust our president, and the results of the previous election say it all. Hence, we expect something more similar to what this great Mr. Ibrahim Traoré is doing in his country. With maximum respect to the leader of the Burkinabé people and their government, I believe Ghana can do better. It's in my knowledge and observation that the people of Ghana would never consider another government aside from the two ruling parties, which I don't need to mention. But if we're so confident in these two political parties and they will continue to fail us, then what's the essence of continuing to grant them the right to lead us?! I must say, maybe we as Ghanaians need a military government to lead us too, maybe that would make sense – someone like Mr. Traoré, someone who will venture into power without the permission of the people but serve the people with what they didn’t know they needed or, to be honest, they blindly ignored at the expense of their future. It's so pitiful that with all our country's resources, we have little industry, and the youth cry over unemployment, but subsequent governments prioritize unnecessary policies that sound good to the ears of these partisan "muddle-heads." We have made ourselves fools and continue to regard past political ideas due to our lineage, family history, or whatever, neglecting our own future and caring less about the next generations to inherit our land. To me, if it will take a young leader, let's give them a chance, because these old men have proved to us that they have absolutely nothing to offer. And of course, if it will take a military government to do things right, like in the case of Captain Traoré, then let's have it!! I stand for Ghana, I stand for Africa, I stand for change!!!

Fellow Ghanaians, as we commemorate the 68th anniversary of our independence, we must confront the stark reality of unfulfilled expectations and latent potential. The pernicious trifecta of corruption, political duplicity, and civic apathy has persistently undermined our national development, betraying the sacrosanct trust reposed in us by our visionary forebears.

To our leaders, we issue a clarion call for transformative stewardship. We implore you to prioritize the existential imperatives of our nation and its citizenry above pecuniary interests and partisan expediency. Embody the values of probity, transparency, and accountability. Invest in human capital, bolster our infrastructure, and foster an enabling environment for entrepreneurial innovation.

To our citizens, we emphasize the imperative of civic engagement and participatory democracy. Let us eschew the corrosive influences of apathy and disloyalty. Instead, let us demand exemplary leadership and hold our elected representatives accountable for their stewardship. We must recognize our agency in shaping Ghana’s destiny and contribute meaningfully to our nation’s growth and development.

Together, we can surmount the seemingly intractable challenges that have hindered our progress for far too long. Let us draw inspiration from our rich cultural heritage and resilient national spirit. Let us rekindle the fervor of patriotism and collective purpose.

We owe it to ourselves, our posterity, and the generations that have preceded us to forge a more equitable, just, and prosperous Ghana. A Ghana where every citizen enjoys unfettered access to quality education, healthcare, and socioeconomic opportunities. A Ghana where leadership is characterized by integrity, transparency, and accountability, and citizenship is marked by civic awareness, patriotism, and collective responsibility.

Let us rise to the challenge. Let us collaborate to create a brighter, more promising future for Ghana. Happy Independence Day Ghana 🇬🇭!
