The Earth Too Eats

The earth quakes-
souls briskly tumbled in
the earth too eats

The excreta of living creatures
vanished into the soil
as its agents nibbled
I said the earth too eats

Have thought of where
man goes after death
who said the earth
does not eat?

Nitrifying bacterium
its digestive system
willy-nilly
the earth too eats

Earth, I beg of you
eat with caution.
