Steve Wonder first performed at PANAFEST in both 1992 and July 1994 after it was jointly launched PANAFEST in New York in April that year.βββ
His love for GHANA has grown over the years. We hope his Citizenship will spur a whole lot of other Diasporan Stars and make a positive impact not only on our tourism but also on African music and entertainment industry.
What Happened to PAN AFRICA FESTIVAL (PANAFEST) ?! π²π²π²
The festival was created in 1992 (the idea was mooted in the 80s) by the late great Pan Africanist, playwright and lover of children Efua Sutherland (known for her literary exploits)
PANAFEST is celebrated from July 23 to August 2 every year.
It is an abbreviation for the Pan African Historical Theater Festival, which takes place every two years in Ghana.
Founded on the belief that the arts, and particularly, theater, can be powerful vehicles for communication and healing,
it is also built on the premise that people must create new forms of expression and dialogue to inspire the mobilization necessary to move to higher levels of achievement.
The event includes Emancipation Day festivities, academic lectures, musical and dance events, and commemoration visits to sites that shaped slavery in the 15th century.
The inspiration came from her 1980 paper titled βProposal for a Historical Drama Festival in Cape Coast.β
The paper served as the genesis of PANAFEST, which since its inception in 1991, has grown into a multi-faceted artistic undertaking.
Every year, PANAFEST is held at Cape Coast after a series of events, including national playwriting competitions, seminars, and workshops on Pan-Africanism, all over the nation.
Sadly publicity on PANAFEST has vanished!!!

Henry I, who was king of England from 1100 until 1135.
He died a rather bizarre death, supposedly caused by a meal of lamprey eels.π²π²π²
The king dismissed his doctorβs warningsβthey had advised him against consuming the suspicious dish.
He contracted a disease and, after a short while, passed away at the age of 67.
Another European king, Alexander of Greece, was just 27 when he died in his own bizarre fashion in 1920.
The Greek king was taking a stroll in his summer palace near Athens when a monkey attacked his pet German Shepherd, Fritz.
The monkey was reportedly a Barbary macaque that belonged to a palace employee.
The king attempted to break up the fighting animals and ended up a victim himself, as the monkey hurt his leg as well as biting him all over his body.
The wounds became infected and less than a month later the king was pronounced deadπ²π²π²π²..

The sinking of the Titanic had profound cultural and economic impacts.
Culturally, it marked the end of the Edwardian period ( era of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910 in Great Britain, whose short-lived governance followed Victoria's long reign and preceded the modern House of Windsor in England)
Highlighting society's overconfidence in technology and superiority.
It also led to improved safety measures on ships, such as increased lifeboat supply and the establishment of the International Ice Patrol to prevent similar disasters.
Economically, the Titanic's sinking significantly impacted the White Star Line company, leading to bankruptcy and eventual merger with another shipping company.
Survivors were reimbursed, but the financial loss was substantial.
In summary, the Titanic's sinking was a tragic event with lasting effects on culture, safety standards at sea, and the maritime industry's economic landscape.
The RMS Titanic sank in the early hours of 15th April 1912 in the North Atlantic Ocean, four days into her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City.
The largest ocean liner in service at the time, Titanic had an estimated 2,224 people on board when she struck an iceberg at around 23:40 (ship's time) on Sunday, 14 April 1912.π²π²π²
Her sinking two hours and forty minutes later at 02:20 ship's time (05:18 GMT) on Monday, 15 April, resulted in the deaths of more than 1,500 people, making it one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history.π²π²π²...
