When you lack expertise in a specialized field, it’s obligatory to refer to someone who has it.
If you act without knowledge, you’re irresponsible.
That’s why the Imāms (ع) said things like:

> «أَمَّا مَنْ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْفُقَهَاءِ صَائِنًا لِنَفْسِهِ ... فَلِلْعَوَامِ أَنْ يُقَلِّدُوهُ»
("As for the jurists who guard themselves… the common people should emulate them.") — Al-Iḥtijāj, vol. 2

But even if that ḥadīth didn’t exist, reason alone already establishes the need for taqlīd.
Because every human system works that way from medicine to law to mechanics
