We’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to our Director of Public Health, Dr Brink.

The Bailiwick of Guernsey is extremely lucky to have someone so calm, kind and knowledgeable navigating us through some really difficult times.

Gifts are often exchanged on birthdays, and we can’t forget about some of the biggest gifts we have received thanks to Dr Brink and her incredible team. From going through a record amount of time COVID-19 free with freedoms that other places have not been able to have for a long time, to having an on-island Christmas without restrictions, so much has been achieved.

Dr Brink and her team continue to work around the clock, and they’re doing it for each and every one of us. We will get there.

It’s always been clear to see how grateful Dr Brink is of our community, and how she continues to motivate and thank us all for coming together. This is indeed a team effort, but we are forever thankful to this marvellous lady for paving the way.

If you’d like to give Dr Brink something for her birthday, all she’d ask for is that we keep staying at home, socially distancing, washing our hands and immediately reporting any symptoms, so that her and the team can keep things going strong.

Events and gatherings should be immediately cancelled following new positive cases.

4 new positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed yesterday evening in Guernsey. There is concern that it is not immediately clear how these 4 individuals contracted the virus, as none are directly from travel or the contacts of known cases or travellers. Contact tracing is continuing to determine whether there is a link between the cases and whether these cases are linked or this is as a result of wider community seeding.

All Islanders are advised to adopt social distancing measures.

The CCA will be holding an urgent live COVID-19 Press Briefing at 12noon today on the States of Guernsey page, gov.gg/coronavirus and local radio and updates will be provided throughout the day on social media and through the traditional media.
