We have just returned from an OECD event in Porto "Forum for Local Development Practitioners, Entrepreneurs and Social Innovators". A great event with some really thought-provoking presentations and debate on how different regions are tackling the up-skilling challenge. The OECD also launched its latest report "Job Creation and Local Economic Development". Interesting interview on The Today Programme on BBC Radio 4 this morning. Andy Heldane, chief economist at Bank of England warns that the UK will need a skills revolution if it's to avoid people becoming "technologically unemployed" through many jobs becoming obsolete through the advancement of AI.
