🎹 ✨ to the lyrical beauty of Fauré’s Nocturne No. 6 in D-flat major, from Victor Lim’s recital at St James.

Written during his love affair with Emma Bardac, Fauré takes us on an emotional journey in this Nocturne: he reportedly imagined the Simplon Tunnel (a railway track between Switzerland and Italy) whilst composing the piece.

Victor Lim gave an encouraging and inspiring workshop to our two young pianists yesterday, and a fantastic recital in the evening. If you haven’t yet joined our growing community of piano enthusiasts at F***y Davies International Piano Series, look out for the line up of next season’s events coming soon!

🎹 🎨 We are very excited to showcase more visual art alongside our upcoming recital given by Victor Lim on 24 June at St James.

Work by Gill Harrison and Nelli Begg will be on display, and audience members will have the chance to meet the artists after the concert. 100% of sales will go directly to the artists.

Gill paints mainly in oil, and her subject matter is usually inspired by the beautiful Guernsey coastline. Her inspiration often comes from the light and colour of the sea, the reflections in the sand, and the changing scenery as the tides ebb and flow.

A self-taught watercolour artist, Nelli is working on a new piece for this recital depicting live performance at St James: "I am striving to create not just an image of a pianist, but the impression of music itself – alive, luminous and fleeting."

🎹 We are very excited to welcome Victor Lim to the F***y Davies International Piano Series on 24 June
2026.

South Korean-British pianist Victor Lim has performed around the world and is praised for his
"great possibilities of nuance and perfect flexibility" (Revista Arta). His recital offers a brilliant programme:
– Beethoven's Op. 126 Bagatelles - his last published work for piano
– Fauré's deeply expressive sixth Nocturne
– Graham Fitkin's energetic Relent - composed in 1998
– Mompou's evocative Scènes d'enfants ("Scenes of Childhood")
– Schumann's wonderfully introspective Humoreske
