Queen Bees - Honey Kitchen 🐝🥦🍅

In The Honey Kitchen yesterday morning, our Queen Bees made puff pastry vegetable tarts.

We are very grateful to have been given some child safe knives from the Health Improvement Commission The Health Improvement Commission for Guernsey and Alderney LBG to use for our cooking which the children enjoyed using yesterday morning for the first time. Using the knives supported our children with their fine motor skills and well as positional language.

We used tomatoes, peppers and broccoli and before cutting them up, we spoke about the different shapes, colours and textures, helping to introduce early mathematical understanding.

Once they were cooked and cooled, the Queen Bees enjoyed tasting them and were so excited to be taking some home to enjoy too!

ONE YEAR OF LITTLE HONEYS! - One whole year ago I opened the doors to my little hive and welcomed in little hearts.

I am not too sure where to begin,
Thank you so so much to all our lovely parents, our soon-to-be parents that are due to start with us soon, and to be honest.. everyone that follows along our journey and for all your support.

I could not be any more grateful for the year I have had. This first year has been a year full of so many memories, and we cannot wait to create many more.

Thank you to all my AMAZING staff. Myself, Kirsten, and Elissa opening the doors September 2025, not knowing where the year would take us, figuring it all out as we went on. Fast forward to October, gaining our wonderful Chaya, Keira and Lois within the same two weeks. Our fantastic Carolyn then becoming a part of our hive in January, Casey joining us shortly after, and now we are in June we have our amazing Rhianna and Allana. 10 of us now here, and I couldn't be prouder of my team, I’m sure you can all agree just how fantastic they are.
Girls, if you manage to read this, I love you all so much!! Everything you do every day is inspiring, and your hard work never goes missed. Our little Nursery would not be where it is today without you.

Kirsten, this is your journey as much as it is mine, and I am so grateful I am sharing this space with you. From my whole heart thank YOU.

As a parent/carer, choosing the perfect space for your precious little one is such a hard decision to make. To hand over your little one for the day, no matter what age, to have your mind focusing on other things for the day, is a really tough thing to do. So, choosing us, truly means the absolute world and words cannot describe the happiness it brings me that you have so much trust in myself and the lovely team we have on board. Thank you.
Adding on to this, some of these parents signed their children up without seeing the premises, without me even completing the Nursery, and they only signed up with knowing what I was offering through explination. Do you know how amazing this is? how hard this must of been? Thank you for believing in me and sticking by my side.

As I hope you can see by the video, the Nursery has come quite far! A lovely little flash back.

We are excited for our in-nursery party to celebrate soon, but until then, thank you so so much and so much love.

Pizza party! 🍕

Yesterday in our Honey Kitchen the children made their own pizzas!

They helped to make, knead and roll the dough before preparing a selection of toppings, including peppers, mushrooms, cheese and ham.
We encouraged to try the vegetables raw, with some really enjoyed them! They then spread the sauce using the back of a spoon, carefully chose their toppings and decorated their pizzas before enjoying them 😋

Mini Chicken Pies 🥧🥕🧅

This morning our Queen Bees enjoyed making their very own mini chicken pies! 👩‍🍳

The children used child-safe knives to carefully cut the carrots, onion and chicken, developing their fine motor skills, coordination and independence. They measured cream and chicken stock using a measuring jug and used measuring spoons for the garlic granules and flour, supporting their mathematical development and understanding of measurement.

While Elissa cooked the mixture on the hob, the children greased their pie tins with butter. We talked about using a circular motion with the paper towel, introducing positional language such as around, over and in.

The children then used a circle cutter for the base and chose their own shape for the top – stars, butterflies and even a fire engine.

Once baked and cooled, the children enjoyed tasting their creations. Most loved them and were very excited to take one home!💛
