ვუსამძიმრებთ საქართველოს ერს და ყოველთა მათ, რომელნი გლოვობენ პატრიარქ ილია II-ის გარდაცვალებას.

მრავალი წლის განმავლობაში იგი ემსახურებოდა ამ ერს, ვითარცა სულიერი მწყემსი, მოუწოდებდა ხალხს ღმრთის რწმენისკენ, სინანულისკენ და მარადიულობაზე დამყარებული ცხოვრებისკენ. თავის ეპისტოლეებში იგი განუწყვეტლივ შეახსენებდა მორწმუნეთ, რომ ადამიანის ცხოვრება არ შემოიფარგლება მხოლოდ ამქვეყნიური არსებობით, არამედ უნდა აღესრულოს მარადიული სიცოცხლის ნათელში.

ამ მწუხარების ჟამს გვახსენდება წმიდა წერილში გამოცხადებული მტკიცე სასოება — რომ იესო ქრისტეს მიერ, რომელთა სწამთ, აქვთ მარადიული სიცოცხლე. ვითარცა თავად უფალმა ბრძანა: „რომელი ისმენს სიტყვასა ჩემსა და ჰრწმენავს მომავლინებელსა ჩემსა, აქუს სიცოცხლე საუკუნოი; და სასჯელსა არა მოვალს, არამედ გარდავიდა სიკვდილისაგან ცხოვრებად“ (იოანე 5:24).

ასევე ნუგეშს ვპოვებთ ამ აღთქმაში: „ნეტარ არიან მკვდარნი, რომელნი უფალში იხოცებიან… რათა დაისვენონ შრომათაგან მათთა, და საქმენი მათნი თანა სდევენ მათ“ (გამოცხადება 14:13).

ვილოცავთ, რათა უფალმან, რომელ არს მოწყალე და მრავალმოწყალე, ანუგეშოს ყოველნი მგლოვიარენი, განამტკიცოს ერი თვისი სარწმუნოებაში და ამ მძიმე ჟამს მრავალთა გულნი მოაქციოს თვისად.

დაე, მშვიდობამ ღმრთისამან, რომელი აღემატების ყოველთა გონებათასა, დაიცვას გულნი და ზრახვანი თქვენი ქრისტე იესოში (ფილიპელთა 4:7).

We express our sincere condolences to the people of Georgia and to all who mourn the passing of Patriarch Ilia II.

For many years, he served as a spiritual shepherd to this nation, calling people to faith in God, to repentance, and to a life mindful of eternity. In his epistles he consistently reminded the faithful that human life is not confined to this world alone, but it is to be lived in the light of eternal life.

In the face of loss, we are reminded of the sure hope proclaimed in the Holy Scriptures—that through Jesus Christ, those who believe have eternal life. As our Lord Himself declared, “Whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life” (John 5:24).

We also take comfort in the promise: “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them” (Revelation 14:13).

We pray that the Lord, who is merciful and full of compassion, would grant comfort to all who grieve, strengthen His people in faith, and turn many hearts toward Himself in this solemn hour.

May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard the hearts and minds of all in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
