სამების საკათედრო ტაძრის კედლებს ამშვენებს უამრავი ხატი, რომელთაგან ზოგიერთი თავად პატრიარქმა კათოლიკოსმა ილია მეორემ დახატა, რომელმაც, სხვათა შორის, აკურთხა ტაძარი. ილია მეორე 20-მდე ნახატისა და ხატის ავტორია, რომლებიც ძალიან მრავალფეროვანია თავისი საგნით, მხატვრული გადაწყვეტითა და ტექნიკით. მათ შორისაა მისი მშობლების პორტრეტები, ხატები „წმიდა სამება“, „უფალი ჩვენთანა“, „ძველი დრო“, „იბერიელი ღვთისმშობელი“, „მთავარანგელოზი მიქაელი“, „წმიდა მეფეები სოლომონ ვახტანგი და თამარი“, და ა.შ.
სამების ხატი განსაკუთრებულ ყურადღებას იქცევს. იგი დაწერილია შუა საუკუნეების მართლმადიდებლური ხატწერის ტრადიციებში. ინოვაცია მხოლოდ იმაშია, რომ ხატის კომპოზიცია შესრულებულია წრიული ფორმით, რაც თავისთავად არ აქვს ანალოგი სამების სხვა ხატებს შორის.
The walls of Sameba Cathedral are decorated with numerous icons, some of which were painted by Patriarch Catholicos Ilya II himself, who, by the way, consecrated the Cathedral. Ilya II is the author of up to 20 paintings and icons, which are very diverse in their subject matter, artistic solution and technique. Among them are portraits of his parents, icons “The Holy Trinity”, “The Lord is with us”, “Old Times”, “The Iberian Mother of God”, “Archangel Michael”, “Holy Kings Solomon Vakhtang and Tamar”, etc.
Icon Trinity draws special attention. It is written in the traditions of the Orthodox icon painting of the Middle Ages. Innovation only in the fact that the composition of the icon is made in a circular form, which in itself has no analogues among other icons of the Trinity.
