Unearthing Human Origins at the Oldest Homo Site Outside of Africa
Join the ongoing archaeological excavations at the premier Early Pleistocene site of Orozmani (Dmanisi, Georgia). Situated at an elevation of 1,200 meters above sea level, this expedition offers an immersive, comprehensive approach to paleoanthropological fieldwork and research.
Our multidisciplinary program encompasses the full spectrum of archaeological methodology:
Active Excavation: Systematic recovery of lithic artifacts and faunal remains from primary contexts.
Sediment Processing: Rigorous wet washing and dry sieving protocols.
Micro-Analysis: Precise extraction of microfauna and micro-archaeological evidence from sediment samples.Experimental Archaeology: Hands-on workshops in early stone tool knapping and technological analysis.
Field Surveys: Archaeological reconnaissance to contextualize the broader paleo-landscape.
Laboratory & Restoration: Processing, conservation, and restoration of newly excavated Pleistocene materials.
Academic Lectures: In-depth seminars led by experts on prehistoric archaeology and hominin evolution.
Researchers and participants are accommodated in a large, fully equipped residential field camp, ensuring comfortable living and working conditions throughout the season.
