Caucasus Snow School

Caucasus Snow School Caucasus Snow School is a science education program being developed for schools in Georgia which choose to participate.

It will also be available for individual students who wish to register. Caucasus Snow School is a new program we are modeling after Snow School in the US. It is a science education program that takes an outdoor experiential approach. We provide lesson plans, demonstrations and guests for schools that cover topics already in their curriculum. We tie these classroom activities to a field day outdoors in the snow. Caucasus Snow School makes science fun, interesting and relevant. It also introduces kids to the outdoors in winter, gets them physically active, and encourages a sense of place and an appreciation for the Caucasus region. As far as we know this program is the first in Georgia to take such an approach. In April 2016 we ran a small hasty demonstration program with two schools, this year we hope to have a more robust program available to several schools. Our goal is to make it available to schools throughout the country that are interested in participating. We especially want to serve the public school system, although we do also work with Georgian private schools.

We are still here and trying to get better established! Unfortunately this is another short season since we were unable to begin earlier, but before the end of the season in a few weeks we will hold a few Snow Schools.

We are working on scheduling and planning for the German International School and Public School 54 so far. We can try to add one more school, preferably a public school. There may also be an open one for individuals who are not part of a participating school.
