Gamarjoba!
⠀
In Georgia, as in many languages, it is usual to shorten personal names. Tamar can be called Tamuna, and Nino – Nutsiko. Recently «tender» versions are even loosing touch with the original source and are becoming independent names. We prepared the list of abbreviations of names adopted in Georgia.
⠀
However, keep in mind that short versions of the name are usually very personal, because it’s the name of the person at home, and only the closest know him/her by this name.
⠀
Therefore, it is better to address the person as he/she introduced himself/herself to you or as a third person introduced him/her to you. And if a person wants to close the distance, he/she will tell you his/her «home» name.
⠀
