After spending the 4th of July weekend in the busy city of Boston, we headed out to the mountains of Virginia. We met up with our sailing friends from SV Free Indeed, and had a great time catching up. We had a relaxing soak in the natural mineral hot springs, enjoyed the beautiful views, and Finnley even learned how to use an ax to chop down a tree… as well as baking the best cinnamon rolls ever with Janice! We love meeting up with our sailing friends on land!

We had a very memorable 4th of July weekend in Boston!! We walked the freedom trail, visited as many museums as we could squeeze in, saw amazing fireworks, ate lots of good food, and made fun memories. Definitely a very interesting city to visit, especially to learn about the history of our country 🇺🇸

Not long after we arrived at the Boston Pops Fireworks, a huge storm rolled in and we all had to take cover. Thankfully, the weather delay actually worked in our favor—we ended up near the front of the line when they reopened the gates!
There were food trucks and activities all along the Esplanade, but one of the coolest parts of the night was the drone show. Watching hundreds of drones create giant images in the sky was an incredible experience. Such a fun Fourth of July!

This year we went to the Boston Pops fireworks show for Independence Day, which is supposed to be one of the best in the nation. However as hundreds of thousands of people crowded onto the narrow island, a storm rolled in so the police had to evacuate everyone!

There is so much to see and do in Boston! In just a single day we rode a hop-on hop-off bus, strolled through Boston Common, had lunch at the famous bar from “Cheers”, and took in the Boston skyline at the top of the Prudential Center. We are making the most of our time here, and coming back exhausted every evening!

After leaving Canada, we made our way to Boston, Massachusetts.
What better place to celebrate this milestone Independence Day than the birthplace of our nation? We’ve spent the last few days exploring the city’s historic sites, and walking the same streets where America’s story began.
