🎉 GCSE & BTEC Results Day at Ysgol Maesydderwen! 🎉

A huge congratulations to all our Year 11 learners on their outstanding GCSE and BTEC results! 👏

Today is a celebration not only of their achievements, but also of the hard work, determination and resilience they have shown throughout their time with us.

Headteacher Phil Grimes said: “I am extremely proud of what our learners have accomplished and, equally importantly, of the personal qualities they have developed along the way.”

A special thank you to our dedicated staff, parents and carers for their continued support in helping our learners succeed. 💙

We wish all our Year 11 learners every success as they take their next steps — whether continuing into our sixth form, moving to college, starting an apprenticeship or following another pathway.

Tomorrow, results are released for GCSE and BTEC qualifications for Year 10 and 11 learners. Y11 learners can collect their results from school between 9am and 12pm and Y10 learners between 10am and 12pm. Learners need to collect their results in person. If for any reason a learner is unable to do so, they can nominate another person to collect their results, but need to inform the school by email in advance using the address [email protected]. The nominated person will also need to bring with them a form of ID. We look forward to celebrating the successes of our learners tomorrow!

🎉 Congratulations to our Year 13 learners at Ysgol Maesydderwen on their outstanding A Level results! 🎉

Today we are celebrating the hard work, resilience and dedication shown by our learners throughout their sixth-form journey. These results reflect the commitment and perseverance demonstrated over the past two years and are a testament to the support provided by our staff, parents and carers.

Headteacher Phil Grimes said:
"I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to all of our Year 13 learners on their A Level results. These results are a reflection of their determination, perseverance and commitment over the past two years, and they should be extremely proud of what they have achieved."

We wish all of our learners every success as they move on to university, apprenticeships, employment and other exciting opportunities. We are also delighted to celebrate our Year 12 learners, who have achieved the school's strongest set of Year 12 results for several years.

Learners need to collect their results in person. Iceland 2028 Update: A deposit of £250 is required by 10th September 2026 (this includes the £70 previously mentioned by the 4th September) to secure a place on the trip. This change is due to the travel company needing extra funds to secure the accommodation (Hotel Ork). This deposit will be taken from the total amount and a payment plan will be set up once numbers are finalised on 10th September. If parents/carers foresee any issues with making the payment by the requested deadline, please just let us know so that we can provide support. Diolch, L. Davies-Hill

Celebrate the love of reading by joining the Summer Challenge. Read to the Beat and borrow books from Ystradgynlais library to enjoy over the summer.

Workshops are on offer in the first week for younger readers so come and spread the reading beat.
