This project allows us to ask ex-students who specialise in various industries to help out with talks, careers events and more. Alumni of LGS This is to be a part of the Lewis Girls' Alumni, where you would be happy to be contacted in relation to helping current staff. This could be providing information on your career, giving a short talk, helping with a careers event etc and by signing up you are happy to be contacted.

A huge thank you to South Wales Fire & Rescue Service, for last weeks talk to Year 12 on road safety

With so many Year 12 students learning to drive, we are looking forward to welcoming South Wales Fire & Rescue to deliver their Domino Road Safety presentation with the intention of educating our students to stay safe whilst on the road. This will take place in the hall Thursday 29th February at 11am.

We look forward to our next life skills event to prepare our Sixth Form for their next steps. Building on the success of our first session with Instagrams .mum we are focusing on financial and budgeting skills and awareness on nights out.

What a great day we had teaching our Yr 13 some important life skills, this was one of the highlights

My favourite day of this journey so far. Being back in my teaching shoes but teaching something i feel so passionate about. A budgeting cooking workshop with sixth formers at @lgs6thform I was their age just before i fell down a slippery slope with money. It took me years to recover from it and limited me so much. I always wondered why i spent so many years in school but was never properly taught about budgeting and finances and the long lasting problems you can easily face if you’re not careful. It was when I was on statutory maternity with Addie and only had a bit of money to do the food shop most weeks that i learned how to do 5 meals for £25. From then on I always shopped savvy because of what i’d learned and even now i always make the absolute most out of products meaning i spend less and have more money to do the things my kids love. Huge shout out to the head of sixth form at Lewis Girls for thinking of doing this for them before they go off for uni, i wish every sixth form had one of you!
