With so many children out and about this week it was Alex and Arlo who were given the honour of harvesting the first radishes and lettuces grown in our Hortus enrichment sessions. Various children have cleared, set up and planted the raised beds and we are thrilled they are starting to see the fruits of their labour. Mrs Hyde would like a special mention to go to Arwen who is off-site this week, for her superb weeding efforts which are allowing the plants the thrive.

Today Teddy brought in 12, very hungry caterpillars for Pre-School to enjoy. They will be watched very carefully for signs they are changing into a butterfly before being released into the Howardian Hills! Thank you for sharing Teddy and we look forward to seeing what happens next!

A midweek check in from our intrepid Year 7 and 8 children who are having a tremendous time in France and Spain. They have all bounced back from their early starts and long journeys, spent time in and on the water in boats, kayaks and snorkelling and jumping in. A fantastic few days with yet more to come!

Year 4 led our Assembly this morning and took us through what they had learnt this year, both in and out of the classroom. From their favourite cross curricular topics, school trip highlights (ice cream in Whitby with Reception being a firm favourite) and some funny anecdotes along the way, each member of the class stood up and spoke clearly and confidently, leaving us in no doubt that they are very much ready to bravely take on the challenges in their residential later this week! They finished off with a performance of Pink Pony Club! Accompanied by Mabel on the piano, this was debuted as a surprise encore at the recital on Friday night and was enjoyed just as much this morning as it was then. What a fantastic year you have had Year 4!

Mud, maps, meandering rivers and mugs of hot chocolate to recover!
Years 3 and 5 have embraced every challenge on their residential so far, from ghyll scrambling and rock climbing to orienteering and fire making. They have shown incredible resilience, teamwork and determination, while making unforgettable memories (and year 3 enjoyed some delicious toasted marshmallows!). Experiences like these help build confidence, independence and friendships that last long after the adventure is over. Here’s to another successful couple of days to come!
