And just like that it is summer and the end of an era for our Year 6 children!
It has been an absolute privilege to watch this year group grow, learn, and lead our school. You were our first lockdown reception class back in 2020 and now you are ready to take on any challenge that comes your way.
Year 6, you have brought so much joy to Wigginton, and you should be so proud of yourselves—we certainly are! Remember to always believe in yourselves as much as we believe in you. 🌟
To our school community, thank you for your incredible support across this academic year. We wish all of our families a beautiful, relaxing summer holiday. Take care, have fun, and make wonderful memories!

Year 3/4 had a visit from Phunky Foods this afternoon! They made an Arabian Fattoush which is a traditional Syrian dish. This all linked to our class book ‘The Boy at the Back at the Class’. We always love having Hannah in!

We were delighted to receive our official OPAL Platinum award from Ana in assembly on Monday. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed or helped in any way on our journey to achieving this - the OPAL Working Party who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes for the last 2 years, the play team who support the children in their play every day, parents/carers who have contributed resources and attended OPAL events, members of our local community who have donated items, staff, the PTA and, of course, the children themselves!

Over the past few weeks, some of our fabulous guitar students have been sharing their progress and talents with the whole school in assemblies. We've heard from Year 1/2 beginners to seasoned Year 6 players, and today it was the turn of the wonderful Year 3/4 group who entertained us brilliantly with the help of their teacher Mr Clegg. Well done everyone! We are so proud of everyone who enhances their musical learning with extra lessons - we have great teachers coming in to teach a wide range of instruments to all ages. Piano, brass, woodwind, strings, guitar - do reach out to the school office if you'd like to get your child's name on the list for next term.

Mr Frank had a fantastic time visiting Year 2 and Year 6 computing lessons last week! It was incredible to see how much our pupils’ skills grow as they progress through school — and even better to see their enthusiasm and big smiles while learning. From early digital skills in Year 2 to advanced problem-solving in Year 6, our young tech wizards are unstoppable! 🤖💡

On June 17th we had a visit from our OPAL mentor, Ana, who came to audit and assess our provision. She last visited school 2 years ago which was when we achieved our Gold OPAL award.
Ana was very impressed with everything she saw when she came, both during lunchtime itself and during the meeting afterwards with the OPAL Working Party. She spoke to lots of children and staff and looked at our plans for further developing OPAL.
We are incredibly proud to have now achieved the Platinum Standard for OPAL play, the highest accolade available, putting us in the top 2% of all schools nationally with the quality of our play provision.
This is in recognition of the incredible variety of resources the children have access to at lunchtimes as well as all the routines and systems in place - such as OPAL assemblies, parent play sessions, staff meetings, play team meetings - and our plans to keep adding to our provision. Here’s to lots more fun and exciting play at lunchtimes!
