Congratulations to our very own Mrs Pilmoor on her 100% attendance award! You will have noticed she has been extra busy recently sorting and organising the school. We are very lucky to have her!

Please do support our wonderful FOGs, without them we would not have been able to change the flooring in the Explorers Class to make this calm, clean space.

You will notice we are on a mission around school to clear and tidy so please do excuse us while we make your school a calmer learning environment ❤️

On Sunday our children made us proud by taking part and supporting the Kirkbymoorside 10k
The Juniors have been practicing each week and the hard work paid off as 21 took part in the race on the day. Thanks to a generous donation from Sylatech all those that have completed their accumulator cards will receive a certificate and badge.

We were very lucky to have Sam come and visit us today to talk about being Jewish in North Yorkshire. We were lucky enough to hear about the history of his Torah scroll and to marvel at the Hebrew script as we heard about how long it takes to create. The best bit for me was the comments about how thoughtful and understanding the questions were. Well done Juniors ❤️

You may have noticed that we were not open for wrap around care today, that was because all staff were taking the first step in their OPAL North East journey. OPAL supports staff in bringing true play back into the school day and we are very excited to get underway transforming our playground into a hive of imaginative activity! Watch this space... Exciting things are coming

We have started a new curriculum in January at Gillamoor C of E Primary School . The excitement across the school has been brilliant to see but it is the Explorers class that have blown me away. They are learning about the Great Fire of London and every child has been excited to share what they have learnt. They have worked together as a team to put out 'fires' and worked independently to share their ideas culminating in some fantastic writing.

Thank you for visiting us today Ryan Swain - lots of talk and discussion coming out of the session ❤️

Today marked Round 2 of the You, Me & ADHD tour due to a very high demand across North East schools and what a way to kick it off at Gillamoor C Of E Primary School this morning. 💛

I walked in expecting good conversations around ADHD - I walked out astounded.

The honesty, the self-awareness, the questions, the empathy, these young people already feel and know so much more than we often give them credit for.

We talked openly and rawly about my lived experiences and about what ADHD actually is, how it can show up differently in everyone, and why understanding it early matters. We spoke about how, when ADHD isn’t recognised, accepted or supported, it can quietly grow into much bigger challenges later in life but also how, when it is understood, it can become a real strength.

No labels.
No excuses.
Just understanding, tools and confidence.

This tour isn’t about telling young people what’s “wrong” with them it’s about showing them what’s possible when they feel seen, heard and supported.

Huge respect to the staff and pupils at Gillamoor for creating such a safe, open space today. This is exactly why You, Me & ADHD exists.

Round 2 is officially underway 🚀
And this is only the beginning.

If you’re an educator, school, parent or organisation who wants to be part of this conversation, my inbox is always open. These talks are all done voluntarily.
