York Drum Lessons Quality one on one Drum lessons based in York Welcome to York Drum Lessons. My name is Liam Hardy and I have been playing drums for over 20 years.

I began performing in a professional capacity in 2009 and since then I’ve been lucky enough to play a wide variety of gigs all over the UK and abroad. My aim is to provide a passionate, valuable and above all fun service to all of my students. My lessons are catered to the individual and can cover a wide range of styles and objectives, from taking exam grades to learning as a hobby and everything in between. In my career as a performer I have toured, and continue to tour, the UK extensively in a variety of groups and acts. These gigs have been diverse and include concerts, festivals, weddings, ceilidhs, corporate events, parades and private functions. Some of the highlights over the years have been performing at Glastonbury Festival on the Avalon Stage, the Cambridge Folk Festival, Fairport Convention’s Cropredy Festival and Kendal Calling. I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to perform abroad and have played at festivals in Borneo, Qatar, Portugal and Spain. As well as live performance I have also had a lot of experience in recording studios. I have recorded multiple albums, EPs and singles with my own band Blackbeard’s Tea Party. I have also recorded as a session performer for many other local acts. I am passionate about drums and music in general and I believe that whether you’re a casual player just having a bit of fun or interested in formal music exams and grades, drumming is a great pastime to have. It exercises you both mentally and physically, enables you to have a deeper understanding of how music works and broadens the mind as a music listener. It can be a lifelong hobby and no matter how serious you are with it, there’s always something new to discover. In short, everybody should do it!

Our Story

My name is Liam Hardy and I have been playing drums and percussion for over 15 years, and have 10 years experience playing music professionally. I have toured and continue to tour the UK extensively playing concerts, festivals, ceilidhs and private functions such as weddings. Currently I mostly play with Folk Rock group Blackbeard’s Tea Party, with whom I have played hundreds of shows over the past nine years including Cambridge Folk Festival, Bingley Music Live and the nearby Galtres Festival. I am passionate about drums and music in general and I believe that whether you’re a casual player just having a bit of fun or interested in formal music exams and grades, drumming is a great pastime to have. It exercises you both mentally and physically, enables you to have a deeper understanding of how music works and broadens the mind as a music listener. It can be a lifelong hobby and no matter how serious you are with it, there’s always something new to discover. In short, everybody should do it! In my lessons I will teach you various techniques, exercises and drum pieces that with practice will greatly improve your overall drumming ability. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or have some experience playing drums I will also cater the lessons to your individual style, enabling you to learn at your own pace and focus on what you want to achieve.
