We work in partnership with Clifton With Rawcliffe Primary School and York Childcare Ltd to provide a well-planned and organised play environment with the aim of delivering a programme of activities which promote confidence, independence and enjoyment in a relaxed, easy atmosphere. We strive to enable children to develop their emotional, social, cognitive, interpersonal and physical skills through exploration, discovery and creativity. The club is committed to the inclusion of all children, and to taking appropriate action to ensure that all children are able to access activities, feel safe and have their individual needs met. We encourage free-flow play, allowing the children to choose which activity they would like to do, and whether they would like to play in or outdoors. Indoor activities include role play, arts and crafts, reading, group games, Lego and other building toys, electronic gaming (PlayStation and Nintendo Wii), and a chill-out area. Children also have access to computers with internet for homework after school. Outdoor activities include basketball, badminton and football on our grass pitch and muga areas, and push along cars and scooters in the playground area. There is also a climbing fort for children to play on, and an area for forest school and den building activities. Kool Kids Club also offers โclub at clubโ activities free of charge within the afterschool session, which currently includes Gymnastics club, Football club and Drama Club with plans for more. Children are consulted about any changes that may affect them at the club, including activity planning, to ensure that they get the most enjoyment from their time with us. Kool Kids Club works in partnership with school staff and parents to observe and take note of childrenโs learning and development within the Early Years Foundation Stage. Play is an important aspect of learning at this age, and we as playworkers can support this. Each early years child has a key worker who will observe and encourage development and feed this into the childโs EYFS journal. Our staff regularly attend training courses throughout the year to improve and build upon their skills which enables us to provide the highest quality of care for children. We have also been awarded Step One of the Steps to Quality certificate.
