We were very lucky to have a visit from the former Lord Mayor of York, Martin Rowley on the very last day in his role. The children really enjoyed hearing about what a Lord Mayor does and asking him plenty of questions, and we hope he enjoyed it as much as they did.

Year 4 had a GRATE time this afternoon learning about how to make a healthy meal out of root vegetables. Each child should have brought home a yummy Rosti to cook!

This morning, Early Years were very lucky to have a visit from PC Scott and PC Klavins. They came to tell the children all about what they do and how they keep us safe. The children asked some brilliant questions and found out that the police still have police horses. After their talk some of the children had the chance to try on some of the police jackets and we think they looked very professional. Maybe among our EYFS pupils, there are some future police officers.

Don’t forget to book a place on this term’s York City after-school football club, starting this Friday, for anyone in years 4-6.

Continuing our celebration of books and reading in this National Year of Reading, we were very lucky to have some parents and grandparents volunteer to come in and read to the children, and talk about stories that inspired them. The children were thrilled to have familiar visitors into class. A huge thank you to all those who took part - and for anyone who didn't, but would like to in future, I'm sure this will become a regular event.
