🌱 A fresh new project in Little Owls … 🐣

Our Little Owls have turned their home corner into their very own Farm Shop, and it’s been non‑stop ever since. The children helped set it all up — choosing the fruit and veg, arranging the baskets, and even painting their very own tractor.

This came straight from their spring learning about new life, growing, and where our food actually comes from. They’ve been talking about farms, planting, animals and food, so the Farm Shop has given them the perfect chance to explore all those ideas through play.

We’ve had shopkeepers, customers, farmers, and some very serious discussions about what grows where. There’s been weighing, counting, sorting, chatting, and lots of teamwork — all wrapped up in something that just feels like fun to them.

It’s been lovely watching their ideas take shape and seeing how much learning happens in these simple, child‑led moments.

We can't wait to see this develop even further- especially as we observe how our own vegetables begin to grow in the garden!

This week we have been supporting Mental Health Awareness Week, led by Mental Health Foundation. Helping our children understand feelings, mindfulness, and the importance of taking time to connect with the world around them 🧡

Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us that mental wellbeing is just as important as physical health, and that even small actions can make a big difference. Teaching children from a young age how to recognise emotions, talk about their feelings, and find calm moments helps build confidence, resilience, and healthy habits for life.

Throughout the week, our children enjoyed relaxing nature walks, searching for flowers and talking together about how different things made us feel. Taking time to slow down and appreciate nature created some lovely mindful moments.🌱🌼

We created a calming spa experience where the children explored their senses — discussing what they could see, smell, hear, and feel. These activities encouraged the children to be present in the moment and helped spark wonderful conversations about their senses. ✨️

We also made special gifts for the important people in their lives. A beautiful reminder that kindness, connection, and feeling valued can have such a positive impact on mental health.

🧡If you or someone you know is struggling, remember that talking to someone you trust and reaching out for support is a sign of strength: You never have to face things alone.🧡

Mental Health Awareness Week 🧡

Here at Orchard Trees, we know that supporting children's emotional wellbeing is just as important as supporting their learning development.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, we will be helping the children to explore feelings, build confidence, develop positive relationships, and learn simple ways to express themselves and manage emotions.

In the early years, strong relationships, play, routine, and feeling safe all play a huge part in supporting positive mental health. Through stories, conversations, creative activities, and lots of nurturing support, we aim to help every child feel valued, listened to and included.

Parents and carers can support wellbeing at home by:

Spending quality time together

encouragng children to talk about their feelings

keeping routines calm and consistent

praising effort and achievements

modeling kindness and positive self talk

Working together helps children grow into happy, confident, and resilient little learners 🧡

SUPER 30! 💥

We’re so excited to share something new (and super tasty!) happening at our nursery…

🥕🍓 The Super 30 Challenge! 🍅🥦
We are aiming to include 30 different plants every week into our menu! From colourful fruits and crunchy veggies to hearty grains, beans, and herbs — our little food explorers will be tasting the rainbow like never before 🌈

💡 Why 30 plants a week?
Research shows that eating a wide variety of plant foods can help support a healthy gut microbiome — the “good bacteria” in our digestive system that plays a big role in immunity, digestion, and even mood. The more variety we eat, the more we help those beneficial microbes thrive! 🌟

For growing children, this means:
🌿 Supporting strong immune systems
🌿 Encouraging healthy digestion
🌿 Building positive eating habits early on
🌿 Developing adventurous, confident eaters

👩‍🍳 Our team has been busy creating a vibrant Summer Menu packed with delicious, balanced meals, we can't wait to try 💚

Let the Super 30 adventure begin! 🚀🌿
