Well, we definitely saved the biggest until last. Pépinières Charentaises has been in the same family for 180 years. Today, Maxime gave us a full tour of the 220 hectare nursery, along with Louis who is part of the 7th generation. They have a really impressive facility, covering field and container grown trees, shrubs, specimen plants and many other things. All very well maintained, making it incredible to think that they've had no rain since April! 🏜

Another fascinating and inspiring day. Huge thanks to Guillaume at Pépinière Coppoolse for showing us your superb quality stock 👌 We've never seen hedging so bushy and dense all the way to the centre 👀🧐 Due to the poor quality soil, these plants are very strong and will rocket away when planted in the UK. Some areas of the nursery have received no irrigation over the summer, showing just how resilient the plants are 🏋‍♀️🌿🏆

Absolutely amazing visit to Ripaud pépinières today. Fantastic to meet Marc-Henri Doyon and learn about how they are combatting climate change with Regenerative Horticultural practices. We especially love the deployment of goats for w**d control. All topped off with a delicious 4 course lunch at their own restaurant which has just won a sustainability award from the government. Bravo! 👏🏆💚🌿👌

Massive thanks to Lucy and her team of York Minster Gardeners, who spent a lovely afternoon with us yesterday, showing us around the Minster’s hidden gardens. Can you believe they maintain a huge 7 hectares of green space in total! It was fascinating to learn about the challenges of working on a site of such archaeological significance and to see their sustainable gardening practices (and awesome composting area 😀). We even got to see the stunning redeveloped stoneyard/Centre of Excellence and associated gardens. It is always such a privilege to play a small part in the upkeep of this historic landmark. Thanks so much for having us 💚🌿
