YSJ Chaplaincy The Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care team is here for all staff, students, prospective students, graduates and associates of our community.

We are here to support the University community at all times - in times of joy and in times of sadness. You are very welcome to join in all our events. We are fully inclusive and welcome staff and students; whatever their faith, race or sexuality. The chaplaincy office has an open door policy and you can call in at any time and a member of the team will be available to listen to you.

The chaplaincy provides spaces and opportunities for reflection, listening, confidential support, prayer, worship, meditation, socialising and spiritual exploration.

On Sunday, 24 May, Christians celebrated Pentecost!

Pentecost is a holy day in the Christian calendar, which celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit to the Disciples of Jesus, Mary, and other believers, whilst they prayed. The Holy Spirit manifested as a mighty rushing wind, with tongues of fire, and gave those gathered the ability to speak different languages, all praising God, in front of a large, multi-lingual crowd who found they could understand the disciples in their mother tongues. Over 3000 people converted and were baptised that day.

It’s described as the Birthday of the Church, and is observed in churches through special services, liturgies and music to mark the day.
