Finally recovered after a very demanding week at the Great Yorkshire Show. Linda's first prize winning display of bee-friendly flowers survived the heat better than we did! Our honey drew the judges' approval in a very high standard of competition, and we were awarded a total of eight 1st, two second, and two third prizes. Good to meet up with lots of old friends too.

Our hollyhocks seem to like this weather. A bit warm wearing a bee suit though!

The moor is starting to look bonny. Bell heather and cross leaf heather in good flower. Hoping that the ling is recovered from last year's beetle attack.

Our phacelia is in full flower and a wonderful source of nectar for all pollinators. It makes lovely honey too!
A swarm arriving in a spare hive. We don't know where this swarm came from, but we're very pleased to see it. Welcome ladies! Notice the artificial wasp nest in the background to deter the plague of wasps that killed some of our hives last year.
