Three Cundall pupils headed to Draycote Water near Coventry to compete in the ISA National Sailing Regatta – another example of the wide range of interests and talents across the school.

Sunny but gusty conditions made for some challenging sailing, particularly into the wind. The pupils completed four 40-minute races and, in a field of 30 boats, all three finished around the halfway mark overall. A great result for our first ever entry. At Cundall, we’re always keen to give something new a go and support pupils in pursuing their interests.

Our U11 and U13 pupils headed north to Scotland for a fantastic weekend of hockey and rugby. πŸ‘πŸ‰πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ

After breaking up the journey with lunch and some fresh sea air on the beach at Musselburgh, it was on to Loretto for a brilliant festival of sport against schools and clubs from across Scotland.
πŸ₯ˆ U13 Girls – Cup Runners-Up. Our U13 girls had a superb tournament, winning four of their five matches, scoring 12 goals and conceding just two to finish second overall.
A strong day of rugby saw the U11 Boys come away as runners up of the Plate. The U13s also produced some excellent rugby throughout the day, finishing their tournament as runners up of the Bowl.

There was further recognition for Cundall when Sophie was nominated by the other teams as the standout player of the tournament – a fantastic achievement which has earned her an invitation to return to Loretto.

A brilliant experience for all our teams and a very successful trip north. Thank you to for hosting us so well!

Year 4 let their imaginations run wild at Stockeld Park recently, using its magical surroundings to inspire their storytelling.

Exploring the Enchanted Forest, the children used the characters, settings and surprises they encountered along the way as inspiration for their own stories. They also took part in storytelling workshops, using props and story cards to develop characters, plots and imaginative tales.

We are very lucky to have places like Stockeld Park on our doorstep, giving pupils the opportunity to take their writing beyond the classroom and find inspiration in a completely different, and magical setting. πŸ“šπŸŒ²

πŸ‘ πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Cundall is delighted to celebrate another former pupil making his mark on the international hockey pitch.

At just 18, Cundall alumnus Aidan is representing Canada at U21 level and recently won silver at the Junior Pan American Cup, helping Canada secure qualification for the 2027 Junior World Cup.

Ahead of travelling to Malaysia tomorrow for the Sultan of Johor Cup, Aidan returned to Cundall to join our U10 and U11 hockey training, sharing his skills and experience with our younger players.

Aidan joined Cundall in Year 5 and remembers winning the ISA North of England Finals as one of the highlights of his time here.

Reflecting on Cundall, he said: β€œI loved it. I loved every moment of it. It’s such a unique school, and you get so many unique experiences. It’s good to just hold on to those and really enjoy the moment.”

Brilliant to welcome Aidan back and for our younger players to see where their own love of the game could take them.

Year 3 headed to Skelton Grange Environment Centre this week to explore what life was like in the Stone Age.

They began by looking at the Stone Age timeline and how early humans developed the skills they needed to survive, before trying tracking, stealth and observation – including the challenge of sneaking past their teachers without being spotted (or squirted with a water pistol!).

In the afternoon, the children created their own Stone Age village, building shelters, making pots and baking bread over the fire. They also watched a mackerel being prepared before cooking and tasting it themselves.

A memorable way to bring their history topic to life.

Year 2 headed beyond the classroom to Flamingo Zoo this term, building on their topic of animals and habitats.

From giraffes, rhinos and cheetahs to red pandas, penguins and flamingos, there was plenty to see and discover. The children spent time with Ben, an Educational Zoo Keeper, asking lots of questions and confidently explaining how different animals adapt to their environments.

A definite highlight was meeting Raymond the tenrec – and even getting the chance to stroke him! A brilliant trip to see, explore and experience the topics they have been studying in the classroom.

ISA Swimming National Finals 🏊

Huge congratulations to our swim team, who travelled to Macclesfield on Wednesday to compete in the ISA swimming qualifiers. The team performed brilliantly, with many finishing within the top three in their heats.

A special congratulations to Toby, who finished 1st in the Year 4 Boys’ 50m Backstroke, qualifying for the ISA National Swimming Finals in London, where he will represent the North of England in the Olympic pool. A fantastic achievement – well done, Toby and the whole team!

🌍 Around the World Day

It’s not every school day that begins with meeting five tortoises from Serbia!

That was the start of Pre-Prep’s Around the World Day, before passports were handed out and the children headed off to explore four very different countries.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³ China – learning about the Great Wall before building their own, making Chinese-inspired hats and trying prawn crackers.

πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ Mexico – making traditional papel picado and sampling tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole.

πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ Kenya – learning about its landscapes and safari wildlife, followed by creating Kenyan-inspired patterns.

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ͺ Peru – discovering Machu Picchu and the Andes, taking a virtual trip to the Amazon, listening to pan pipe music and making llama crafts.

Maps, food, music, animals, art, building and plenty of questions along the way – a great example of the varied teaching our Pre-Prep pupils experience at Cundall.
