On 7 October, we’re excited to welcome Dr Daniel Hammett from the University of Sheffield for his talk, ‘Failing out Future? Can global governance meet global challenges?’

This is a fantastic opportunity to explore some of the biggest questions shaping our world today, hear fresh perspectives, and join a thoughtful discussion led by an expert in the field.

🦊 George the Fox made the most of all the interactive experiences at Saturday's Senior Open Day! 🦊

George took part in colourful Chemistry experiments, screen-printed a poster in Art, made a keyring in DT and investigated who killed Julius Caesar for 'CSI Ancient Rome' in Classics! Of course, George also joined all of our visiting families for a delicious lunch to round off a very exciting morning!

It was wonderful to meet so many of the families who will make up the future Bootham community at our Open Day, and to introduce them to all the things that make Bootham, Bootham.

🌳Some of our littlest explorers have started their Forest School adventures!🌳

Year 1, along with their Reception friends, enjoyed a fabulous first Forest School session this week. With trees as their theme, the children explored their surroundings, gathered natural treasures and proudly made their own nature bracelets.

Beneath the shadow of the mighty oak, they lay back to watch the clouds drift by, spotting shapes and sharing ideas ☁️

We were delighted to welcome so many families to our College Open Evening 💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our College Open Evening last week, it was a genuinely lovely night. It was wonderful to see families exploring what life at Bootham College could look like.

One of the biggest highlights was a heartfelt speech from one of our current students, who shared their own journey here at Bootham. It was a reminder of what makes our community so special.

Some of our staff and students were out in York yesterday to cheer on Sir Kevin Sinfield as he passed York Minster during his incredible 7-in-7 challenge!

It was a fantastic opportunity to show our support and witness the determination that Sir Kevin has to make a difference. Charity work is central to Bootham's Quaker values, inspiring students to make a positive impact in the world.

We were honoured to welcome Lord Edward Garnier KC to Bootham as part of our series of Jeremy Heywood Lectures.

With decades of experience, Lord Edward explored why jury trials remain an important part of Britain's justice system, and what their future might look like.

The audience, which included Bootham students, asked thoughtful questions, and the whole evening left us reflecting on fairness, history, and the people who shape public life. A truly inspiring night for our school community.

There’s something special about seeing generations of our school community coming together ⚽

Old Scholars and current students shared a wonderful evening celebrating sporting achievement, talent and friendship. Our Old Scholars got back in the game alongside our current students, showcasing their skills on the football pitch and netball court before we proudly presented Sporting Excellence Awards to both former and current students. The awards recognised individuals whose hard work and dedication to school sport continue to inspire others.

Thank you to all our Old Scholars, students, families and staff, as well as Ben Mee, who joined us as our special guest for the evening. It was a fantastic celebration of our school’s sporting community and the shared passion for sport that connects us all.

Today is International Peace Day 💙

Our students and staff came together today for a silent vigil, taking time to honour and reflect on the values we share, while considering the role each of us can play in creating a kinder, more compassionate and peaceful future.

Peace is found in everyday acts of kindness, in listening to others, in showing understanding, and in creating communities where everyone feels respected, valued and able to be themselves.

At Bootham, we believe education is more than academic success. It’s also about helping young people develop the confidence, compassion and social awareness to make a positive difference in the world around them.
