Mount School York

Mount School York The Mount School York is an exceptional independent day
& boarding school in the heart of York. Visit The Mount.

The Mount promotes the Quaker values of peace, equality, truth and social justice. In our Junior School, our focus develops each child's skills, understanding and willingness to help others. This translates in our Senior School into girls becoming actively involved in engaging with the world around them. Talk to our girls about what they love about The Mount, and see for yourself what makes this unique school so truly extraordinary.

Quaker Schools' Week 2026 🕊️

This Quaker Schools Week, our school has been reflecting on the theme “Peace Begins with Us.” 💙

Throughout the week, we have explored what peace means to us, how our words and actions can make a difference, and how small acts of kindness, understanding and respect can help create a more peaceful community.

Pupils in our Prep School made their own 'peace leaves' on which they wrote what peace means to them. They then read their messages out during the Prep School Quaker Meeting with parents.

Prep School Book Fair Makes a Difference! 📚

Thanks to everyone who supported our Scholastic Book Fair which raised almost £600 for new books. We all 💙 reading! We have refreshed the Prep School Library & expanded our emotional literacy collection which helps children understand & talk about different feelings & experiences, in school.

If you feel that a book might help to open up a conversation at home, please let us know & we can share resources. It’s lovely to see our cosy library grow.

Peace is at our heart as a proudly Quaker school. We nurture young people who care about the world & become the change they wish to see: peaceful disruptors.

Opportunities such as Model United Nations & PeaceJam allow our pupils to explore local & global issues, engage in respectful debate to seek solutions & set up practical projects as hands-on changemakers.
