On National we applaud the magnificent Ruth Levings - Mount Physics teacher extraordinaire - who has been awarded a certificate of achievement after being nominated for Teacher of the Year 2026 in The Pearson National Teaching Awards

A panel including author Michael Morpurgo, who was a teacher himself, today celebrate great teachers. Michael, wrote, “The work you do – day in, day out – is life-enhancing, life-changing…you open doors, shine a light… For a child to have a great teacher like you is so important… So, bravo you, bravo!”

This week! LAMDA Showcase 🎭 ✨

After the astounding success of this year's LAMDA results - with every participant receiving a Distinction - The Mount will be hosting a LAMDA showcase on Thursday 18 June.

We encourage families to attend this free event & see the amazing performances of all our pupils who participated in LAMDA.

Sports Day 2026 🏃‍♀️‍➡️🥇

There was an excited buzz as families gathered on the sidelines to watch their children take part in a range of track & field events at this year's Sports Day. Pupils throughout the Prep School showed determination & enthusiasm as they impressed the crowds with their performances.

This year's event was an exhilarating one, as pupils represented their Houses in a plethora of track & field events. There was competition, camaraderie & lots of cheering as peers & parents watched on.

Scholars Afternoon Tea 🎓

The Mount hosted its annual Scholar's Afternoon Tea on Tuesday. The event brings together existing Scholars with new Scholars & Exhibitions as they are awarded. Exhibitions are a new award that recognise potential & enthusiasm.

Scholarships & Exhibitions were awarded in four areas: Academic, Performing Arts, Sport & College.

Sweet treats & homemade hot chocolate was served as attendees were split into groups before participating in a multi-round quiz. Afterwards, the new members were handed certificates & badges as fellow Scholars applauded.

Well done to the ten new additions to the group this year & to all our existing Scholars for their continued hard work & achievements.

Prep House Swimming Gala 🏊‍♀️

It was an afternoon of fun, thrills & competition at the Prep School Swimming Gala. Pupils were in good spirits as they cheered each other on, regardless of House or ability.

Congratulations to this year's winners, Rowntrees, who also took home the trophy in last week's Senior School House Swimming Gala!

Will they make it 3/3 on Sports Day this Friday? Parents are invited to attend & find out for themselves...

Three Hat-tricks for The Mount in 10-5 Win! ⚽🏆

The Mount welcomed Copmanthorpe for a Y5/6 football fixture that was an absolute goal-fest. The Mount emerged as deserved 10–5 winners, with Isla named Player of the Match.

Grace, Hetty, Isla & Charlotte all scored, the latter three with superb hat-tricks! It was a fantastic result & team performance ahead of Sports Day this Friday - well done girls. 🙌
