The children have been practicing lots of outdoor play. A favourite in Cheeky Hens is to walk along the balance beams. When the children move from Wiggly Worms it takes lots of practice to be able to climb up on the balance beam, and then the children like to hold onto an adults hand. By the time children leave Cheeky Hens they are climbing up by themselves, walking across the balance beams, stepping over stepping stones and jumping from the end!

Story time in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a vital daily activity that fuels cognitive, emotional, and linguistic development. It accelerates vocabulary growth, builds listening and concentration skills, and provides a safe space for children to explore complex emotions and develop empathy.
This morning Rosie read to three children who were super involved in the story telling process. They touched the different textured materials ion the book, traced over the lines and helped Rosie to find their nose, mouth and ears. Brilliant job!

🌈 Rainbow trust children charity 🌈
On our open day on Saturday we had a cake sale and a tombola to support Rainbow trust children's charity. On the tombola we had prizes from some of our extra-curricular teachers, toiletries Sciencetots and Minikikks, games, teddy bears and alcohol. The staff had been making cakes on their Friday night and we had lemon drizzle cakes and chocolate chip cookies to sell. We had a great morning and we sold so many tickets, Rachel was able to send £153.00 to the charity. What a brilliant effort from all our parents and staff too!
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with life-threatening or terminal illness.

The Cheeky Hens children enjoyed a lovely walk to the duck pond. They made sure they wore hats and sunglasses, they saw lots of ducks and had so much fun!

🌞 Sunshine 🌞
The children have been enjoying early morning sunshine splashing in cold water whilst wearing sun cream and hats. It is super hot in nursery today so all the children are now indoors. We have been making sure that the children stay hydrated. We have been using the NHS guidelines to make sure children are kept safe in the sun!

✨ May school council ✨
The preschool staff asked the children what they would like to play with outside. They talked about having a flower garden and being able to plant some seeds. They would like a bird feeder so that they can see lots of birds. The children said they would love to have a tea party. They also said they would like some more construction tubes so that they can make monster trucks. We have passed the information on to Rachel so she can reflect on this feedback.
