A "sweet" story of enterprise, I have to admit I had never heard of a cake shed maybe there is a gap in York! Should Time2Resources have a side hustle?
Cake sheds are making bakers £1,000 a week - but the dream might be over
They may have captured the public's imagination, but are councils coming for the cute cake cupboards?

Real-world understanding and maybe more importantly curiosity is such an important part of really understanding and enjoying both Economics and Business. This article is great for unpicking the current state of the economy and discussing the impact on different businesses and individuals. Its also interesting to try and look for links between the graphs https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyprjddgj3o

If you’re in or around York, this is an experience I’d strongly recommend for any Business or Economics student.
Recently, I’ve been revisiting my notes from the Bean-to-Bar Chocolate Making Workshop at York Cocoa House — and I’m genuinely surprised by just how much we covered.
What makes this workshop stand out isn’t just the hands-on chocolate making (though that’s a highlight ). It’s the depth of insight into sustainability, ethical sourcing, and global supply chains — all brought to life by Sophie Jewett, whose knowledge and passion make the learning stick far beyond the session.
I attended alongside Carlo Mencattelli towards the end of last year, and it struck the perfect balance:
✔️ Engaging and interactive
✔️ Academically rich
✔️ Directly relevant to curriculum topics
It’s rare to find something that is both serious in content and genuinely enjoyable — but this delivers on both.
If you’re looking for a way to bring business concepts to life outside the classroom, this is well worth exploring:
