Children in Class 1 were excited to dig up the potatoes they had planted. It was great fun seeing how many they could find! After harvesting, they carefully washed the potatoes in preparation for making potato latkes. A wonderful farm-to-fork experience helping the children understand where their food comes from.

Class 1 have been learning about Judaism with a focus on the festival of Hanukkah. The children learnt about the story of the oil lamp in the Temple. They enjoyed creating their own Hanukkah lamps and learning how to play a special Jewish game using a dreidel.

As part of their learning, the children thought about the special days that are important to them helping them to make connections between their own experiences and those of others.

To conclude the topic, the children explored some of the traditional foods associated with Hanukkah. They had great fun making potato latkes using potatoes they had dug up themselves that very morning and even better eating them afterwards!

šŸ“šŸ„£ Class 2 DT This WeekšŸ„£šŸ“

This week in DT, Class 2 learned about the differences between unprocessed, processed and ultra-processed foods, and discussed which foods are the healthiest choices for our bodies.

The children shared what they had eaten for breakfast and worked together to decide whether their breakfasts were healthy and why. This sparked some fantastic discussions about making balanced food choices and the importance of starting the day with a nutritious meal.

To put their learning into practice, the children made their own healthy breakfast pots of overnight oats. They carefully selected ingredients and created delicious combinations packed with goodness.

The overnight oats were a huge success! The children thoroughly enjoyed tasting their creations and many said they would like to make them again at home with their families.
