Higher York

We had a fantastic evening last night celebrating with the winners at our Student Volunteering Awards. Congratulations again to all of our winners, and thank you to everyone who made it such a lovely event!

Whether you are a first year, a finalist or midway through your PhD, we would like to hear your thoughts and ideas on our latest project. We want to compile a list of 100 things to do in York as a student and are looking for your suggestions - the quirkier, the better!
Do you have any favourite things to do/visit in York? What has been your best experience in the City? We're looking to include attractions to visit, bars, restaurants, day trips and other things to do. A few ideas we have had:
• Have afternoon tea at Betty's Tea Room
• Find the best view of the Minster - apparently it's on the second
floor of M&S!
• Make a chocolate bar at the York Chocolate Story
• Scare yourself silly on a ghost walk
• Find out what’s in your pint and how real ale is made at the York
Brewery Tour
• Walk the whole way around the walls
• Play ‘Three Blind Mice’ on the pitched posts at Lord Mayors
Walk
• Drink a cocktail at Evil Eye ( Johnny Depps Favourite Bar)
• Travel to the seaside and have Fish and Chips
The final list will be made into a booklet or app by our friends at Make It York. There is going to be a prize for the best idea we get, so get your thinking caps on.

York undergrad volunteers in schools helping to inspire more girls for future careers.

Mentoring success for York students The Girl's Enrichment Scheme (GEMS) provides support to girls in Year 10 by linking them with University students and women working in business.

Our partners are offering advice on higher education at Craven College!

The first of our higher education events is happening right now in the hall in Pen-y-Ghent! There are exhibitors from York College, York St John University, York University, Craven College and Askham Bryan College who are in partnership with Higher York and are here to provide advice and guidance. We also have presentations from our higher education team on career advice and progression routes, a special thanks to our apprentice Holly for her presentation on apprenticeships as an alternative route!

Launching National Student Money Week with the Lord Mayor. Talks were given by Blackbullion and NASMA to help inform students about their money.
