Huge appreciation post for these two incredible women who planned and delivered some amazing sessions throughout the summer. 💛

Laura from Study Buddies | Laura 🩶 did the most incredible job with our School Ready sessions, as well as our Reception Transition to Year 1 sessions.

Grace delivered half of our primary sessions alongside all of her usual 1:1s, she’s been absolutely amazing!

Both of you are truly incredible. Not only are you fantastic members of staff, but you’re also two very special friends.

A little personal note to anyone collecting their GCSE results today✨

One of my favourite things about this little space, aside from the incredible learning, progress and those amazing light-bulb moments happening before my eyes, is the relationships that form between the children.💛

Our small group sessions might build on friendships that already exist, but they also create opportunities for completely new friendships to form between children from different schools.

It’s such a special thing to witness, and honestly, it’s become one of my favourite parts of the group sessions, something that never even crossed my mind when I first started this little space.

And this year, I’ve really seen the impact those friendships and connections can have, particularly for children preparing to transition to secondary school. Having familiar faces, friendships and a little network of support around them has made such a difference, helping some children feel more confident, relaxed and excited about the next step. 🥹

Watching the children learn, grow, encourage one another and genuinely enjoy being together is something I feel incredibly lucky to be part of. 🥹✨

🐄 Getting Ready for Year 1!🐄

Our Reception children have been busy learning through a fun farm-themed tutoring session this week, building confidence and developing key skills ready for the transition into Year 1! ✨

🐑 Farm Focus: We explored Farmyard Hullabaloo, using the story to engage with farm animals discussion, develop vocabulary and listening skills.
🔤 Phonics: We recapped familiar digraphs and introduced new ones, strengthening phonics knowledge and confidence.
✏️ Literacy: We practised spelling the names of farm animals and had a go at writing simple sentences.
➕ Numeracy: We worked on simple addition and explored doubling through practical, age-appropriate activities.
🎨 Expressive Arts & Design: Inspired by Billy’s Bucket, we encouraged imaginative thinking and creativity through drawing and discussion.

It was wonderful to see the children learning, creating and growing in confidence while developing those all-important skills for Year 1. 🌟
📚 Learning through stories, play and creativity makes every session engaging and purposeful!
