Thank you to everyone who has donated to our newspaper fundraiser so far!
The Derwenter plays a key role in providing creative opportunities for Derwent students and contributing to our amazing college spirit.
We are the only college with a printed newspaper and any contributions would go towards printing costs.
If you have any further questions, contributions or enquiries please feel free to email me at [email protected]
Thanks again and keep donating!

Were you a Derwent student in the 1990s or earlier? Do you have any good photographs of Derwent events which you would be willing to send us? If you have digital copies, so much the better, but we'd be happy to use hard copies, which we'd digitalise and then return to you. Each photo would need a short description, of course.
The reason for our request is that a film is being made about all the colleges. and we're collating as many old photos for this as we can.
Thank you so much!

Hello everyone!! We are fundraising to help cover printing costs for our college newspaper. The link is down below and we would be very grateful for any contributions!
The newspaper has recently been revived, having originally been published in the 70s.
If any past Derwent students would be interested in writing a piece for the newspaper at any point or providing old photographs then please feel free to email me at [email protected]
Thank you for your help and contributions!

Calling all Derwent Alumni! Got an bangin' image of College life you need to share? Make it a part of the fabric of the College by entering our competition. If you win, you'll be invited back to receive your prize and unveil your creation to hang in the JCR forever! (they can't knock it down; its full of asbestos).
WIN £100 AND HAVE YOUR IMAGE HUNG IN THE DERWENT COMMON ROOM FOREVER!
Entries are now open for the “Spirit of Derwent” image competition.
We are looking for a range of images (photos or original art works) that capture the spirit of Derwent. Entries could depict Derwent events, people or places - the most important criterion is that you capture the “spirit” of College life.
They should also be accompanied by a text of no more than 500 characters which explains and contextualises the image.
All winning entries will be mounted on the Junior Common Room walls for posterity. Photos will be enlarged and printed on canvas. Winning entrants will each receive £100 in cash. Their description and name will also be mounted next to their image.
First years are particularly encouraged to submit photos of their experience of this exceptional year to add to the institutional memory of the College.
The competition closes 30 April (end of week 2 summer term). All entries will be judged by College Principal Dr Eleanor Brown with winners announced in week 4. There will then be an official unveiling and awarding of prizes in week 8 summer term.
To enter, upload your image and submit your text here:

Original artworks should additionally be brought to the College offices for judging when safe to do so. If required, the College can lend a limited number of easels, A2 canvases and art supplies. Please send inquiries to [email protected].

Anyone from Derwent here?!
Here's a ground-floor plan from 1963...is it how you remember or has anything changed?
