‘Celebrating Hockney!’
10am–4pm

£85 per person, including full refreshments, a lovely lunch, wine, full access to the grounds, and an optional tour of the house.

We’re going to be celebrating the David Attenborough of the art world: the vibrant, innovative and incredibly versatile David Hockney. A true artistic hero, he spent seven decades pushing boundaries and inspiring generations of artists. Artist in residence, will be leading us in following in the footsteps of this remarkable trailblazer!

There are some beautiful areas close to the house to paint from, with Hockney-esque avenues of trees and wonderful landscapes. We’ll be working en plein air where possible (weather permitting), with the option to paint indoors from source material if needed. We’ll be using acrylic paints throughout the day.

All abilities are warmly welcomed and encouraged.

Gorgeous day for it! 💗🌞☀️.artretreats in the Long Gallery Ruins when we're not selling Christmas trees! 😆

As we approach our exciting 'Architecture in Watercolour' painting workshop on Tuesday 26th June (still a few places available — just email [email protected] for more information), I dug out lots of old photos of Newburgh Priory in its heyday (pre-dating cracks and dry rot)!

With the help of Evil AI, I managed to restore them in colour. It’s funny — and fascinating — seeing photographs from around 1912 brought back to life — fancy cars and all! Great to see the ruins where we now sell as the former ‘Long Gallery’, in colour! And check out the 1912 doggies! 🥰🐾

On Tuesday 23rd June, join us for a beautiful en plein air painting workshop at Newburgh Priory, capturing its historic architecture 🌿🎨🖌️

Paint outdoors in the gardens or work from source material inside — whichever you prefer.
