Thank you to Sue, from New Earswick Library, for coming in to launch this year’s summer reading challenge in assembly today. The theme this year is ‘Magical Nature’.
The challenge involves the children visiting their local library this summer, signing up to get their ‘Story Garden sticker booklet’, read as many books as they can through the summer and collect stickers as they go to add to their ‘magical garden’.
The challenge starts on
the 12th July and children have until the 13th September to complete the challenge. They will receive a certificate and a medal for taking part in the challenge.
We hope lots of children will take part. 📚📘📕📖📙📗📓📒📔

We were really proud of our Year 6 pupils today as they delivered their ‘Enterprise Day’ to the whole school. Over the last couple of weeks, they have been planning, preparing, making and marketing their ideas, and the results were really successful today. They raised lots of money for school funds and contributed towards their leavers hoodies too. Well done Year 6!

Have you managed to get into town to spot the banners with our pupil’s artwork on yet? We have been sent these photographs of them and we are so proud! They look absolutely fantastic! 100 years - Joseph Rowntree Centenary!

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed attending the Brownlee Foundation Triathlon today! This year was extra special as both Alistair and Jonny Brownlee joined to cheer on 1,200 children as they completed their triathlons. It was an unforgettable celebration of effort and community!

Year 6 did so well in their SATs this week! We asked them to do nothing but their best and their best they did. To celebrate, Mr Pheby continued the annual tradition of the children shredding their practice papers and having a SATs paper snow style fight ❄️🤣

Year 3 had a supper trip to York Minster yesterday. They did a tour around each part of the Minster, collected facts for their writing next term and completed a picture treasure hunt. They then went outside and sketched the Minster to complete their learning on how the Minster has changed since it was first built. Well done Year 3!

For VE Day today, Nursery watched a video to share what it is all about. The children were particularly interested in the areoplanes and jets that were involved in the celebrations in London! They therefore made their own paper planes and took them onto the playground to fly ✈️
