Hummingbirds’ Nest

Now that the rush of the last few weeks of July has finally calmed down, and we’ve had some time to settle to a new rhythm in Portugal and rest, I finally wanted to take a moment to thank to all my hummingbirds and their families for another wonderful year! ✨🌈
I feel truly grateful for the trust the hummingbirds’ families put in me every day and for the privilege of being part of these children’s lives, watching them grow and flourish. It really is such a special privilege! 💛
A big thanks as well for all the patience with the logistics of drop-offs and pick-ups over the past year. Fingers crossed, it won’t be for much longer!

For now, it’s time to make the most of every single second with my family and to spoil my sister, who is about to bring a beautiful new baby into our family! 😍

Every little hummingbird who crosses my path and becomes part of our nest, no matter how long they stay, leaves a lasting mark on my heart! ✨
The sweet little girl who always arrived in beautiful dresses and filled the nest with her beautiful, powerful singing.
The quiet, observant one who had the biggest sense of humor and loved pretending to speak Portuguese with me.
The spirited little one with the gentlest heart, who loved splashing in puddles and rolling in the mud.

Now it’s time for them to begin new adventures, and I will miss each of them so much! I will always be grateful for the precious moments we shared and for the trust their parents placed in me every single day. Wishing my little hummingbirds endless joy, curiosity, and happiness as they spread their wings. 🌈🦄🩷✨

I’ve been quiet in here but life has been busy in the nest! 🌈

While the newest little ones are settling in, the older hummingbirds of mine have been fully immersed in their play. It’s been so lovely to watch imaginative and collaborative play begin to blossom! Of course, with all that exploration comes a little extra mess and a touch of wonderful chaos—as you’ll see in some of the photos. We also celebrated the first birthday of the newest hummingbird in the nest! ✨

We started our week celebrating May Day/Beltane making crowns and having a delicious spinach cake that my hummingbirds loved!

In this nest, little ones grow at their own pace, with gentle rhythms, nourishing meals, free play, baking, songs & puppet stories.

“It’s magic,” one of my hummingbirds started to say while holding the daffodil she had made. 🌼✨
…And suddenly they were all spinning around with their daffodils, shouting “it’s magic.”
It really was magical to watch this moment of their happiness for such a simple thing!
