Exceptional GCSE Performance at Preston School
I am delighted to share another set of exceptional GCSE results from Preston School in Yeovil. Once again, our outcomes see us exceed the national average in all key headline measures, with a number of areas significantly above the average nationally.
The school’s attainment 8 score, which totals the best eight GCSE grades achieved by students, was 48.50, against a national average of 46. This means that students at Preston School exceed the outcomes of their peers nationally by two and a half grades per student. Importantly, students the DfE describe as ‘disadvantaged’ and those students with SEND, also significantly outperformed their peers nationally at Preston.
In terms of individual subjects, 23.4% of students at Preston School achieve a grade 7 or above in English, while students sitting Sport Science achieve an average grade of 5.61, significantly above the average for the subject nationally. GCSE Business, Computer Science, Child Development, History and Science all also saw exceptionally strong outcomes.
We are proud of each and every student in our cohort, and would name each of them alongside their individual achievements if possible. That said, it is right that we acknowledge the exceptional performance of a small number of students on a more personal basis.
Iga Wlosowska achieved a magnificent 92 GCSE grades, including grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Polish and Physics, with grade 8s in Art, English Language, Geography and Spanish.
Daniel Pratt achieved an average grade of 8.9, including grade 9s in Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, English Language, English Literature, Geography, Maths and Physics.
Ellis St Ville achieved an average grade of 8.5, including grade 9s in English Literature, French, Geography, History, Biology and Physics, alongside grade 8s in Business, Maths and Chemistry.
Lucy Trigwell achieved 82.5 GCSE grades, including grade 9s in French, Geography and History, alongside grade 8s in English Language, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Alice Green achieved an average GCSE grade of 8.44, including D*2 grades in Business Enterprise and Child Development, grade 9s in English Literature, Maths and Science.
Noah Grant, Ewa Gluska and Megan Farley also achieved exceptional outcomes, with top grades in a number of subjects.
