At our Houndstone Close Nursery in Yeovil our September's 'Mini minds matter' theme is Activesaurus.
Our Preschool children engaged in dinosaur yoga, where they used large-muscle movements and exercised their gross motor skills. We spoke about different types of dinosaurs and used them as inspiration for our poses when stretching.

At our Houndstone Close Nursery in Yeovil our September's 'Mini minds matter' theme is Activesaurus.
To follow this the Preschool children used their large muscle movements to paint a rainbow!
We spoke about what colours mix together to make new colours and we learnt that mixing all the colours together made brown.
After this, we went to the garden to play with the parachute; where we practiced different paces (slow and fast) and then we balanced a ball on top!

Using tools such as paint brushes and stamps as well as getting our play animals and cars very messy we've been discovering all their different prints! And of course getting our hands stuck in too!

We had a wonderful evening celebrating our amazing nursery team and our achievement of being named Nursery of the Month for June 2026! 🏆✨

It was lovely to spend some time together outside of nursery to relax, enjoy each other’s company, and celebrate all the hard work, dedication and teamwork that made this achievement possible.

This week in Preschool at our Houndstone Close Nursery in Yeovil, our children have been exploring our outdoor areas as part of their minibeast hunt! The children have been discussing habitats and areas we may find minibeasts; including spider webs, flowers, trees and bushes. The children also spoke about the importance of caring for all living things and the outdoors!
