Jamie Witt Guitar Lessons Yeovil

Jamie Witt Guitar Lessons Yeovil Jamie Witt Guitar Lessons, Yeovil My name is Jamie Witt, and I am a Guitar Teacher local to Yeovil, Somerset. I teach beginner to intermediate levels.

With years of teaching and playing experience I seek to offer lessons which are informative, enjoyable, but most of all, personal. I aim to teach you the songs YOU want to learn, at a pace which suits your learning style. I specialize in helping beginners get to grips with the guitar and music, and to hopefully realise that learning an instrument is well within anyones reach. RGT registered and CRB checked.

What a privilege it was to have so many students come out to support me at my headline Home Farm Festival slot, and also my slot at Party By The Parrett. Having so many students take the time to come and watch, but also the words and messges of support and encouragement around that too time, really has an importanance I couldn't begin to articulate here.

In particular being able to look out and see so many of my younger students in the crowd (and at the front πŸ˜‚) is not something I take lightly at all. One of the most rewarding things about what I do is that I'm somewhat in a position where I can try to be a positive influence to them, and I'll keep trying to do that as best I can.

Thank you all, as always, for your support ❀️

A huge well done to all my students who just received their grading results. All achieving Merit or higher once again, but most importantly enjoying the challenge πŸ™‚πŸŽΈ

It was a real privilege last weekend to get to see two of my students out performing. Firstly Ollie - playing his first gig with his newly formed band Dead Giveaways They did a ridiculously good job, regardless of it being their first gig. Ollie is a sensational player so make sure you catch them at some point!

Then on the Sunday Madison played at the Yeovil Ukulele Festival. Madison has only just started college but was so confident and professional in her performance, and she sings her own compositions which are just amazing songs.

Definitely one of the best parts of my job getting to see students live out their ambitions, and I couldn't be prouder of them.

I thought today I'd highlight an element of teaching that I never take for granted, and that's how more often than not students are not just 'clients', but friends also. Just to give some examples from this year alone, I've been kindly invited to birthday parties, and even a wedding. I had a student who I've taught since he was in primary school send me pictures of his first car. When I played at Home Farm Festival I looked out at the crowd and spotted so many students, some of whom had come along specifically to catch my set. Another plays his first gig with his new band next month and I'll be right there to support him.

Hopefully it already is, but I'd thought I'd make it clear that teaching and being a part of your lives is an absolute privilege.

In loving memory of Ashley Doel, a student and a friend.

A huge well done to all my students who entered for gradings this Spring. Every one of them achieved the highest mark possible - a Distinction - which is absolutely incredible!
Ashley, whose certificate is pictured, went into the grading as his first ever formal exam experience. In addition he, like many students, struggled with what would happen if he didn't play perfectly. We've worked a lot in lessons on the idea that there is no 'perfect', and how he deals with mistakes is far more important. So I was extremely pleased to see that the RGT examiner had actually awarded him extra marks for how well he dealt with making errors and how well he recovered.
To go into his first ever exam experience feeling that nervous and to conquer it like he did is nothing short of absolutely remarkable πŸ‘
A huge well done to Ash and all my students.

The start of this year has been the busiest I've ever known. Like many small businesses (and everyone, really) the cost of living crisis meant I came into this year facing uncertainty, so it's been really humbling to see that people are still supporting small business, and still finding a way to do the things they want to do. So thank you to all my students, and to everyone who has enquired and booked in, and to all who continue to support me through recommendations, shares, likes on posts...it is all enormously appreciated.
Here's to many more years of C chords and strumming patterns and basic first riffs and searing solos and everything in between 🎸❀️

Last week one of the kindest, most caring and most genuine people I've known tragically and unexpectedly passed away aged just 36 years old. I first met Ashley Doel at the beginning of 2016 when he contacted me for guitar lessons. We quickly became good friends. Anyone who knew him will know how easy he was to be around, always full of nothing but kindness and patience and the most genuine care for whatever you had to say. We got along very easily and I would look forward to every lesson with him and catching up about what we'd each been up to. Ash was also very supportive of me and my playing, attending gigs and always supporting any videos or songs of mine.
Trying to come to terms with this has been very difficult. The last time I saw him he told me he'd had an idea for me for a video, where I compose a song and record it in the exact same location throughout a year, through all the different seasons. I told him what a great idea I thought that was, and had already begun planning it. I now intend to do that in honour of a very good friend and a great man who will not be forgotten.
I feel truly privileged to have known you for the time that I did, Ash.

If anyone reading this knew Ash, there is a link below to a tribute page to him where you can share memories, photos and donate to charities in his name.

Some awful news this morning unfortunately - Waterloo Music in Yeovil has been broken into and three guitars stolen. Please keep an eye out for the three guitars shown: a Squier Bullet Mustang in Graffiti Yellow; a Hofner Very Thin in Dark Stain Red; a Faith Naked Venus acoustic.
This would've been horrible news at anytime, but to happen after the guys at Waterloo have battled through lockdown and continued to serve the musical community throughout, omly for someone to believe they can help themselves to their livlehood, is unthinkable.
Any information or help anyone can offer please let them know.

A very happy Christmas to all my students, fellow musicians and friends. I'm phenomenally grateful to have had such a positive year in many ways, and since 2020 that's been given even sharper focus to just how grateful I am for all your support that allows me to keep doing what I'm doing.
So thank you, and I look forward to seeing what 2022 alongside you all πŸ™‚πŸŒ²β˜ƒοΈπŸŽΈ
