πŸ€” Thinking about booking an Emergency First Aid at Work course but not sure what to expect?

It's completely normal to have questions before attending your first first aid course.

In our latest guide, we explain exactly what happens during an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course, including:

❀️ CPR training
⚑ Using an AED (defibrillator)
🩹 Dealing with severe bleeding
🀧 Choking
😡 Unresponsive casualties
πŸš‘ Medical emergencies

We also answer some of the most common questions we're asked:

βœ”οΈ Is there an exam?
βœ”οΈ Do I need previous experience?
βœ”οΈ Will I have to perform CPR?
βœ”οΈ Is the course suitable for complete beginners?

If you've been thinking about booking a course, this guide will tell you everything you need to know.

Another pair of tickets to an upcoming Yeovil Town FC match has been drawn, congratulations to Lisa Coombes who attended a blended Paediatric First Aid course at her workplace in 2024! Two tickets to the glovers upcoming game against AFC Flyde on 12th September will be coming your way.

More tickets will be drawn soon. By attending one of our courses, you have the option to join the draw - the only provider in the area to do anything like this. Just our little way of giving something back!

We're giving away more tickets for Yeovil Town FC and this time, congratulations to Matthew Evans who attended one of our Manual Handling courses at his workplace in 2024! Hopefully Matthew and a +1 will be coming to the game against Solihull Moors on 18th September. Congratulations...

Shall we do it again in an hour??? πŸ€”

πŸŽ‰ 600+ GOOGLE REVIEWS! πŸŽ‰

We've just spotted that we have passed another pretty incredible milestone…

⭐ More than 600 Google reviews! ⭐

Every single one of those reviews has come from someone who has taken the time to share their experience of training with us β€” and we genuinely appreciate every one.

Whether you joined us on an open course in Yeovil, Taunton or Bridgwater, attended training at your workplace, school or nursery, or have worked with us in some other way β€” thank you. πŸ’š

Reviews make a huge difference to a small local business like ours. They help new customers find us, give people confidence when choosing their training provider and, most importantly, let us know we're getting things right.

600+ reviews is something we're incredibly proud of.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us get there. πŸ’š

🏒 Open course or on-site training – which is right for your business?

If you're arranging first aid training for your team, one of the first decisions you'll need to make is whether to book places on one of our open courses or arrange training at your own workplace.

The answer depends on a few things:

πŸ‘€ How many people need training?

πŸ“… Do you need a flexible date?

πŸš— Would travelling to a venue be practical?

πŸ’· Which option offers the best value?

In our latest guide, we've compared both options and explained the advantages of each, helping you choose the one that best suits your organisation.

🏒 Did you know we can bring first aid training to your workplace?

Many businesses assume they need to send staff away for training, but that's not always the most practical option.

With on-site training you can:

βœ… Train your team together
πŸš— Reduce travel time
πŸ“… Choose a date that works for your business
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ« Learn in a familiar environment
❀️ Gain the same nationally recognised qualification

Whether you're training a small office team or a larger workforce, on-site training can often be the most convenient and cost-effective solution.

We've put together a guide explaining how workplace first aid training works and what you need to provide.

πŸ’¬ Would on-site training work better for your business, or do you prefer attending an open course?

Congratulations! πŸŽ‰

We love giving a little something back to the people who have trained with Emerald First Aid Training.

For every Yeovil Town FC league home game, we give away 2 match tickets to one lucky winner, chosen completely at random from those who have attended one of our courses and opted in to stay in touch with us.

We've done the draw for the first 3 matches of the season. A huge congratulations to our latest winners – we hope you have a fantastic day at Huish Park! βš½πŸ’š

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Emerald First Aid Training. Whether you trained with us recently or several years ago, we really appreciate you being part of our community.

πŸ€” Have you ever completed a First Aid Needs Assessment for your business?

Many employers know they need first aid provisionβ€”but aren't sure how to decide what's actually appropriate.

A First Aid Needs Assessment helps you consider things like:

βœ… Workplace hazards
πŸ‘₯ Number of employees
πŸ•’ Shift patterns and lone working
🚢 Visitors and contractors
πŸš‘ Access to emergency medical services

Every workplace is different, so your first aid arrangements should reflect the risks your team faces every day.

We've written a practical guide explaining what a First Aid Needs Assessment is, why it matters and what you should include.

πŸ€” How many first aiders does your business actually need?

It's one of the questions we're asked most oftenβ€”and surprisingly, there's no simple legal formula.

Many people think it's based purely on the number of employees, but in reality it depends on factors such as:

βœ… The type of work you do
βœ… The risks within your workplace
βœ… Shift patterns and lone working
βœ… Visitors and contractors
βœ… Your First Aid Needs Assessment

Whether you employ 5 people or 500, understanding your responsibilities is an important part of keeping your team safe.

We've put together a practical guide explaining what UK employers should consider before booking first aid training.
