The remainder of our signage has been taken down today as an extra safety precaution, but goodness me, seeing our beautiful premises looking so dull and lifeless has really upset me! 😭

We are currently awaiting quotes for a brand-new sign, so fingers crossed it won’t be too long before we’re back to the bright and colourful exterior we all know and love! 🩷🧡💙

Today’s heavy winds have torn part of our exterior sign from the building. 😭

Please keep children close, and do not wait outside beneath the remaining signs. Come straight inside as directed.

Lessons are continuing, but we are urgently arranging for the signage to be inspected and made safe. 🩷🧡💙

✨ GRADE 6 SINGING IN JUST A FEW DAYS! ✨

Today’s PJC Daily Showcase features Evan performing Komm, süßer Tod, komm selge Ruh by Johann Sebastian Bach, from the Grade 6 ABRSM Classical Singing syllabus. 🇩🇪

Evan heard this piece for the very first time on Monday morning at our PJC Summer Singing Workshop. By Wednesday afternoon, he was standing in front of an audience performing it with such maturity, musicality and confidence. 👏🏻

To learn and perform a Grade 6 classical song in just two days is a remarkable achievement. What an incredible young man, and what an exciting musician he is becoming! 🩷🧡💙

Sticking With What We Love! 💗🌟

We’re back in the swing of things already, and I have so enjoyed seeing all our students and assistants so far, hearing about their adventures over the summer and discussing our goals for the year ahead.🎹🎤🎭

I have been using Bitmoji to create stickers for our PJC Sticker Charts for many years now, but once they changed the style and I couldn't generate new ones- they were starting to get a little repetitive. This year, thanks to AI, I have created a brand-new collection of stickers, all wonderfully bespoke to PJC and linked to our curriculum, workshops, exam timeline and Composers of the Month. 🌟

They have made me so happy to create, and I can’t wait to start sharing them with our students. I already know they are going to absolutely love them! 🩷🧡💙

💖 PJC Composer of the Month September 2026: Dolly Parton 💖

Following the sad news of Dolly’s passing over the summer, I felt inspired to bring her back as our Composer of the Month for September, in celebration of her extraordinary life and legacy. ✨

Our students absolutely loved studying Dolly Parton back in February 2022, especially learning and performing her iconic song, 9 to 5! ⏰

Throughout the month, our students will explore Dolly’s incredible songs, her unmistakable musical style and the remarkable story behind her career. We’ll also discover how her generosity reached far beyond music, particularly through her work supporting children’s literacy with the Imagination Library. 📚

A truly unique songwriter, performer and human being whose music, warmth and kindness will continue to inspire generations. 🥰

We will always love you, Dolly. 🩷🧡💙

The PJC Daily Showcase took a little summer break… ☀️

In the end I actually didn’t do the PJC Daily Showcase during August- instead, I took it as an opportunity for a proper digital detox and gave my full attention to my family. ❤️

And what did we do instead?

☀️ Sunshine and seasides
💦 Rivers and waterfalls
🏰 Castles and stately homes
🏡 Cottages in Cumbria
🚂 Trains to London
📚 History in Nottingham
🌍 Greenwich Meridian Stops
🛏️ Youth hostel bunk beds
🥞 Premier Inn breakfasts
🃏 Card games and car games
💛 Quality time with our family & friends
🍦 And a ridiculous amount of ice creams!

Some of the highlights included a day out at Forbidden Corner, the Wensleydale Experience with Cheesy Afternoon Tea, Sunday lunch in a pub built into a cave, and a trip to see Dog Man: The Musical! 🎭

It’s been a brilliant, busy, slightly chaotic and very memorable August.

And whilst I love sharing what goes on at PJC, it was really lovely to put my work phone down and just be there for it all. 🥰

But tomorrow is September 1st and PJC reopens. I’m looking forward to welcoming our students back, and continuing to celebrate all their successes on the PJC Daily Showcase. 🎹✨

I hope all our families have also enjoyed the most amazing holiday and I look forward to hearing all about your trips this week when we return! ☀️
